Hecteyes (ヘクトアイズ, Hekutoaizu?), also known as Hect Eyes or 8 eye, is a recurring enemy in the series, introduced in Final Fantasy II. They are commonly shown as blob-like enemies, similar to flans, usually pink, orange or red, with many eyes all over its body. Hecteyes is typically its own race, however in Final Fantasy XII the enemy is a member of the Flan family.
Hecteyes are sometimes titled Orukat (オルカト, Orukato?), sometimes appearing as palette-swaps or the only type of Hecteyes in their game.

Etymology
"Hecto" or "Hecta" is a prefix used in the metric system to denote a factor of one hundred. "Hecteyes" refers to the creature's numerous eyes.
Trivia
- Hecteyes is likely based on the mythical Hyakume (百目), a monster of Japanese folklore.
- Final Fantasy's kin jRPG series, Dragon Quest, was planning a similar monster for Dragon Quest III (1988) called タワーオブアイ (Tower of Eye), but was scrapped, the idea may have been picked up by Square for Final Fantasy II. Instead, in 2001 they introduced the Eyesaur which also looks similar.
