The Great Dragon is an enemy in the Advance and 2014 Matrix Software versions of Final Fantasy VI, fought in the bonus dungeon Dragons' Den.

Great Dragons are a more powerful version of the Dragon enemy and, just like Vilias from the same dungeon, call back to the monsters from Final Fantasy V.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Great Dragon uses Fire Fire-based attacks like Atomic Rays and Blaze, and can use Snort to blow party members out of the battle. When it dies, it may cast the Quake spell as a final attack. Devastate is its most powerful attack (deals 400% normal damage), usually killing its target. Great Dragon is weak to Lightning Lightning and can rarely drop Dragon Horns, a rare relic.

Strategy[]

Thundaga spells are effective, and Ultima can also be used to finish the dragon.
