Gravity (重力, Jūryoku?) is a recurring element in the Final Fantasy series. Gravity abilities often deal damage based on the victims' current or maximum HP. Very often, Gravity-based attacks have no effect against bosses.

While the Gravity spells and related abilities appeared in many games within the series, many of those games do not classify Gravity as an element, instead classifying Gravity spells as non-elemental. The following list of appearances are for when Gravity appeared as an actual element.

Final Fantasy X-2[]

While many of these abilities appeared in the previous installment, the sequel made Gravity into an element.

Quarter Pounder Gunplay Reduces opponent's HP by 25%.
Seed Cannon Blue Bullet Inflicts physical damage equal to 1/3 of HP to target.
Demi Sword Swordplay Inflicts Gravity elemental damage.
Wisenen Throttle Reduces target's HP by 75%, inflicting Gravity elemental damage.
Gravity Fish Festivities Inflicts three Gravity physical attacks on one enemy.
Gravitystrike Auto-Ability Adds Gravity element to physical attacks.
Gravity Eater Auto-Ability Converts gravity damage to HP.

Etymology[]

Gravity, or gravitation, is the natural phenomenon by which physical bodies appear to attract each other with a force proportional to their masses. It is most commonly experienced as the agent that gives weight to objects with mass and causes them to fall to the ground when dropped.
