FFTA Goblin
Cretins with big ears and fangs. Strong and stupid.

Goblins in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance are the first race of enemies encountered in the game. Goblins are blue, in contrast to their stronger counterparts, the Red Caps. While they make for an interesting battle, Goblins are usually easy to defeat.

Blue: Goblin Red: Red Cap

Goblins are found in at least one mission in almost every one of the earlier locations. Their attack, Goblin Punch, misses often, but when it does hit the target, it usually inflicts only a small amount of damage.

Extinction of Goblins Edit

Fairly early in the game, Goblins will become "extinct". Meaning they do not show up in any mission after the six listed above. Because of this, it is important to capture a Goblin and also to teach all of the Human members of the player's clan Goblin Punch as early as possible. This however, can be bypassed by simply avoiding to complete one of the missions, effectively letting players complete the storyline and still be able to battle Goblins afterwards. This can be a good idea, if one wishes to level up their characters, have them learn more abilities and possibly to have as many Hunters as possible, when trying to capture a Goblin.

Etymology Edit

A goblin is a small, mischievous creature found in many European folk tales and legends. The word "goblin" comes from the Norman French word Gobelinus, the name of a ghost that haunted the town of Évreux in the 12th century.
