—Description

Goblins in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance are the first race of enemies encountered. Goblins are blue, in contrast to their stronger counterparts, the Red Caps. While they make for an interesting battle, Goblins are usually easy to defeat.

Goblins are found in at least one mission in almost every one of the earlier locations. Their attack, Goblin Punch, misses often, but when it does hit the target, it usually inflicts only a small amount of damage.

MissionsEdit

Mission Prerequisites Information
#001 Herb Picking None Located at Giza Plains and is the first mission. Because of this, the Goblins cannot be used for capturing or teaching Goblin Punch.
#032 Tower Ruins Read the description of "The Hero Gaol", received after "#062 Oasis Frogs" Located at Koringwood. The single Goblin here knows Goblin Punch.
#037 Village Hunt Complete #003 The Cheetahs Located in Eluut Sands. The single Goblin here knows Goblin Punch.
#044 Snow In Lutia Complete #001 Herb Picking Located at Lutia Pass. The Goblin here has Goblin Punch, however, it is still too early for capture or learning Goblin Punch.
#049 A Lost Ring Complete #004 Desert Peril Located at Ulei River. The single Goblin here knows Goblin Punch.
#055 White Flowers Complete #003 Cheetahs Located at Giza Plains. The single Goblin here knows Goblin Punch.

Extinction of GoblinsEdit

Fairly early on, Goblins will become "extinct". Meaning they do not show up in any mission after the six listed above. Because of this, it is important to capture a Goblin and also to teach all of the human members of the player's clan Goblin Punch as early as possible. This however, can be bypassed by simply avoiding to complete one of the missions, effectively letting players complete the storyline and still be able to battle Goblins afterwards. This can be a good idea, if one wishes to level up their characters, have them learn more abilities and possibly to have as many Hunters as possible, when trying to capture a Goblin.

EtymologyEdit

A goblin is a small, mischievous creature found in many European folk tales and legends. The word "goblin" comes from the Norman French word Gobelinus, the name of a ghost that haunted the town of Évreux in the 12th century.
