The Gnoma Entite is an enemy in the game Final Fantasy XII. It is the Earth-elemental Entite and can be found in the Dalmasca Westersand during a sandstorm. It is also fought in the International Zodiac Job System trial mode at stage 76 along with 4 Earth Elementals.
In the chronicles, it is said that in time out of memory the gods fashioned here a paradise, yet Man was ill-satisfied and sought to cultivate the lands beyond. The soil was thus enriched, yet this gave rise to differences, differences to greed, and greed to war. The gods wept and raged and cleft the land, casting men into the gaping abyss. Out of this tumult, the gnoma entite was born.
The strength of the earth carries us, does naught but be under all, languid, resistant, a mass against which the spirit is strained and, eventually, broken. Only the power of wind may tempt the indolent soil into action. The earth, now called, cares for you. For you, heart-cleft, and for you alone will it open and reveal the rich electrum it holds.
The Gnoma Entite only appears during sandstorm in The Midfault area and far west side (near the entrance to Zertinan Caverns) of the Shimmering Horizons area of Dalmasca Westersand. Sandstorms frequently occur until the player defeats the Earth Tyrant, after which sandstorm occurrences will drop significantly. Chances for a sandstorm to occur are higher if the player enters the Dalmasca Westersand from Giza Plains during the Rains. If the player are having great difficulty trying to get a sandstorm to arise, defeating the Ring Wyrm is advisable, as after killing it sandstorms can once again cover all of Westersand. Also, entering the Wyrm's Nest area and then exiting will cause a sandstorm.
Like the other Entites, its attacks consist of Silencega, Sleepga, and Fear which reduces one character's MP. Since there are no Earth-elemental spells, it attacks using Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga. Reflect will not work against it, as its spells ignore Reflect. Also, like the other Entites, it is docile, but attacks when provoked or when magick is used nearby. Gnoma Entite is offensively the weakest Entite.
Gnoma Entite can be respawned endlessly by zoning on the Midfault and Windtrace Dunes area during a sandstorm for the rare loot Gnoma Halcyon, (which is an essential ingredient for the Ultima Blade). It is advisable to have the Thief's Cuffs equipped when stealing from it.
