[edit] Bestiary Entry
Genus: Gnoma Entite
Classification: Elemental
[edit] Page 1: Observations
In the chronicles, it is said that in time out of memory the gods fashioned here a paradise, yet Man was ill-satisfied and sought to cultivate the lands beyond. The soil was thus enriched, yet this gave rise to differences, differences to greed, and greed to war. The gods wept and raged and cleft the land, casting men into the gaping abyss.
Out of this tumult, the gnoma entite was born.
[edit] Page 2: The Entite Pact
The strength of the earth carries us, does naught but be under all, languid, resistant, a mass against which the spirit is strained and, eventually, broken. Only the power of wind may tempt the indolent soil into action.
The earth, now called, cares for you. For you, heart-cleft, and for you alone will it open and reveal the rich electrum it holds.
[edit] Battle
The Gnoma Entite only appears when a sandstorm occurs in The Midfault area and far west side (near the entrance to Zertinan Carverns) of the Shimmering Horizons area of Dalmasca Westersand. Sandstorms frequently occur until the player defeats the Earth Tyrant boss, after which sandstorm occurrences will drop significantly. Chances for a sandstorm to occur are higher if Vaan enters the Dalmasca Westersand from Giza Plains during the Rains.
Like the other Entites, its attacks consist of Silencega, Sleepga, and Fear, which reduces one character's MP. Since there are no Earth-elemental spells, it attacks using Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga. Reflect will not work against it, as its spells ignore Reflect. Also, like the other Entites, it is docile, but attacks when provoked or when Magic is used nearby. It is the weakest Entite offensively.
[edit] Etymology
Gnoma is named after the mythological creature Gnome, which is said to live underground and is the Earth Elemental in Alchemy.
