Gladiators wake the magick that sleeps within the quiet steel of the blade with their sparring techniques.

Description

Template:See Also The Gladiator is a job available only to bangaa. This job can charge their weapons with elemental properties for stronger attacks.

Gladiators are nimble melee units that are incapable of equipping heavy armor and so are a bit short in the Defense department, but the highest possible Strength growth in the whole game makes up for it. Their offensive capabilities, including the bangaa variation of Ultima, Ultima Sword, make up for the Gladiator's lack of endurance. A most terrifying combination is having a Templar or a Dragoon use Ultima Sword, while equipping a spear allowing a two tile Ultima range, or giving Ultima Sword to a Trickster, allowing Ultima to be utilized from an effective distance.

Etymology

A gladiator (Latin: gladiator, "swordsman", from gladius, "sword") was an armed combatant who entertained audiences in the Roman Republic and Roman Empire in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals. Some gladiators were volunteers but most were slaves schooled under harsh conditions. Gladiators were celebrated in art, and it became a feature of politics and social life in the Roman world.
