Gilgamesh (Revenant Wings)
From Final Fantasy Wiki
- "Greatest swordsman in all of Ivalice. He insists he knows what he's doing."
- —Description
Gilgamesh is an enemy and summon in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. In Chapter 10, the sidequest Mission 81: Battle on the Big Bridge becomes available, and Vaan and others heads to the Gates of Shattered Time. Gilgamesh is there, walking about aimlessly with his companion Enkidu. He immediately recognizes the party from before, and begins to blather on and on about how their meeting was not by chance. Brandishing his swords, Gilgamesh challenges the party to a duel, Enkidus at his heels.
Upon defeat, Gilgamesh is obtained as a summon. He is a Rank III Melee Non-Elemental Yarhi. His normal attack, Slice Thrice, attacks an enemy three times in succession, and his special ability, Masamune, deals heavy melee damage to one foe.

[edit] Strategy
You are only allowed three Group Leaders in this battle, the Cache of Glabados is not used to summon Yarhi at the battle's start, and there are no Summoning Gates on the field. You will want Penelo for her healing abilities and either Filo or Llyud for their advantage against melee units. For your third Group Leader, either Vaan or Basch make good choices. (Alternately, you could simply choose both Filo and Llyud to face off Gilgamesh for their unit type advantage.) Make sure all of your characters are above level 50 or so.
Gilgamesh begins in the center of the field, flanked by one Enkidu. The Enkidu will rush your party immediately, but Gilgamesh will stay put. After defeating the first of Gilgamesh's minions, more Enkidus will appear at the sides of the battlefields at regular intervals and head straight for your three units. After about 10 Enkidu have been felled, Gilgamesh himself will move from his perch and chase your units.
KO each Enkidu as quickly as possible. Buffs such as War Dance, Protectga, and Dervish should be in place at all times. It is best to stay near your starting point and destroy each Enkidu that comes to you. Ensure that Penelo is out of range of the Enkidus to cast Esunaga regularly and prevent the Enkidus from inflicting Disable on your units with Warcry. When Gilgamesh begins to move, make a beeline for him and hit him with everything you've got. Llyud should use Jump liberally, Filo should use Defense Snare or Power Snare and possibly Overdrive, and Vaan's Steal abilities can weaken Gilgamesh extensively. About four Enkidu will attack your party from behind during your duel with Gilgamesh, usually targeting Penelo. You will want to ignore this and focus exclusively on Gilgamesh. A Quickening may come up during the heated fight; using it can end the battle quickly.
