Normal: "A ferocious brute that finds true joy in pummeling its enemies. Its body toughens if it takes too much damage, reducing the effectiveness of physical attacks."
Oversoul: "Never an easy fiend to figure out in the first place. Now it's finally gone completely mental and started using magic attacks."

The Gigas is an enemy from Final Fantasy X-2. They are a difficult enemy to deal with since they have high HP and Attack, and even more so when they start going into their counter stance when at low HP. While in Defensive Stance, it is best to try and take them out in one blow if possible, and if that is not possible, then inflict Poison on them and let the Poison kill them. Demi also helps with dealing with these enemies if the player has access to it. You can also use your Thief to steal its will to fight by casting Steal Will.

The Hidden Hero Drink they can use when Oversouled doubles their HP and makes them Invincible to most physical and magical attacks; however, Slots damage and possibly other rare skills can still affect them. In Oversoul, they also have access to all four Level 3 elemental spells, which can be countered by casting Reflect or using Shell to reduce the damage of the attacks.

Fiend Tale

In the Fiend Tale endings, a notable Gigas was created from the spirit of a Ronso in the service to a summoner. However, they died on the way to Zanarkand and the Ronso became a fiend. With Garik's aid, Gigas was taken to the grave marker of his summoner and receives closure.

Etymology

Gigas is a popular term for races of giants in fantasy games. Gigas is a Greek word meaning "giant", originally used to describe the race of Gigantes in Greek mythology and is used in the scientific name, as the specific epithet, of hundreds of species of animals and dozens of plant species to denote their size.
