Ghido's Cave, also known as Gill Shrine, is a location in Final Fantasy V. It is home to Ghido the sage. If the player lands their airship or wind drake right above the cave, it results in the Airship and Hiryuu glitch.

Ghido's Cave Entrance

Exdeath sinking the island.

Bartz and his party go to Ghido's Cave to get Ghido to help them defeat Exdeath. However, Exdeath sinks the island were Ghido lives before the heroes have a chance to meet him. The player can reach it once they acquire the submarine from Xezat.

Entering the underwater cave, the party finally finds Ghido. To Bartz's surprise, the great sage is actually a turtle. The sage explains about Exdeath's origin and the party's next move: to head for the Great Forest of Moore, Exdeath's "birthplace".

Later, after Exdeath merges the two worlds, Ghido's Cave returns to above the water level where, the Warriors of Light find Ghido again. They are visited by Exdeath disguised as a splinter, who fights the elder turtle. The combat ends with a draw and Ghido and the Warriors leave for the Library of the Ancients.
