General is a boss in Final Fantasy III. Once he is defeated the party receives the Excalibur. He is the third boss found in Forbidden Land Eureka, and is the weakest. The general will mostly go for physical attacks, which will deal a good amount of damage. A good strategy is to use Flare with a Magus, attack with physical Jobs, and heal with a Devout.

In the DS remake, the General is a bit more difficult, and has access to the spells Bio, Drain, and most importantly, Death. Aside from the new spells, he is not that much different from his NES counterpart, aside from having two attacks per turn. Having a Ninja attack while having a Sage heal and another casting Flare or Meteor will make this battle simple. The fourth party member is up to the player, though a Scholar may be of great use if the player has any Chocobo's Wrath or Lilith's Kiss items left.
