Young Crusaders gather round, we'll beat Sin into the ground!

Gatta, after the defeat of Lord Ochu

Gatta is a non-player character from Final Fantasy X. He is a member of the Crusaders in Spira, and looks up to a fellow Crusader Luzzu. Gatta is one of the first people Tidus gets acquainted with in Spira, and his outcome depends on player choice.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Gatta has short black hair shaved short at the sides of his head, and brown eyes. He wears shoulder pads fastened with yellow string to his belt, a green sleeveless top, shorts that look like they were made from ripped trousers, long socks and shin guards. He has a red scarf tied around his wrist and elbow guards. He doesn't wear shoes.

Personality[]

Gatta is a novice Crusader who looks up to fellow Crusader Luzzu. Gatta longs for the day Sin will be vanquished from Spira, and wants to do his part to help. Full of bravado, Gatta declares the Crusaders have a plan to "beat Sin into the ground" and wants to take part in the battle, frustrated he has been given a role away from the front lines due to inexperience. He is looking for guidance from others on what to do.

FFX HD Gatta Crusader

Gatta tells Tidus about the Crusaders.

Gatta is a young Crusader in Spira, and friend of Luzzu, whom he looks up to as a mentor. When Tidus comes to Besaid and visits the Crusaders stationed there, Luzzu tells Gatta to explain what the Crusaders do to the "amnesiac" Tidus. The Crusaders depart Besaid the same time Yuna's pilgrimage starts, and Gatta later assists in Operation Mi'ihen though mainly restricted to preparation and messenger duties due to his inexperience. He expresses feelings of impatience and wants to see action during the battle. Tidus can advise Gatta and the player's choice decides the fates of Gatta and Luzzu.

Gatta's Death

Gatta's death.

If the player talks to Gatta twice and agrees with him that his place is on the front lines, Gatta is killed during Operation Mi'ihen. In any other situation, Luzzu is killed. In the event that Gatta fought on the front lines, his body is found on the beach and must be interacted with to progress. He will slump over to the side, indicating his passing. If the player tells Gatta to stay behind and defend the command center, he'll be on the beach, freaking out over the aftermath of Operation Mi'ihen. Later, he can be found sitting beside the Djose Temple when the party passes through where he says that he had found Luzzu's body torn in half. He mentions there is nothing left for him in the Crusaders, and so he will return to Besaid.

After gaining control of the airship, Yuna and her guardians can return to Besaid and find either Gatta or Luzzu training a new group of Crusaders, ever vigilant in the face of Sin. Depending on Tidus's decision during Operation Mi'ihen, Yuna's party will see either Luzzu or Gatta as one of the fallen Crusaders in The Nucleus area of Sin, depending on who survived and who died. After Yuna's party defeats Sin, either Gatta or Luzzu joins the cheering Besaid villagers, depending on which one survived.

Spoilers end here.
