Appearances

Final Fantasy IX

Template:Sideicon Garnet is an item and Add-on, and can be obtained by synthesizing it for 350 gil on disc 4 at Daguerreo, Black Mage Village, or in Memoria at Hades, and requires an Ore and Remedy. It can be found in the Outer Island Chocograph (x16) and in Alexandria on disc 3, dropped from Abadon and Stilva, or stolen from Abadon and Chimera. It teaches the abilities Bahamut and Healer, and when used as an item, restores HP equal to the number of Garnets in the player's inventory x12.

The more Garnets in the player's inventory, the more powerful Bahamut's Mega Flare becomes, as per the following formula:

Final Fantasy XI

Template:Sideicon The Garnet serves mainly as an item to craft various mid-level equipment (from about level 30 to about level 75), and functions in some ways as a less powerful Ruby (in that its bonus to Fire is about half). It has an additional use in being used to placate a group of Opo-opo after the player steals their red stone from the Cermet Headstones during the Rise of the Zilart missions. It is mostly found in treasure chests (where it is one of many random items that may be acquired).
