Hey, hey! Look what finally happened :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kznek1uNVsg&feature=youtu.be

Yup, it seems after years and years of waiting, we now finally have the first untangible, inarguable evidence that this highly rated JRPG classic is finally stepping into the 21st century with it's long awaited and highly requested remake.

Anyways, I'm sure you all know how I feel about the original FFVII by now, but if you haven't already you can check out my blog post for my thoughts on it. So I'm just gonna jump right into detail about what I think of it based on my reception of the original FFVII.

I've been looking up on the internet lately to see what the wider reaction seems to be and not surprisingly enough, people are going absolutely nuts over this. But personally, I think we shouldn't praise the lord for this news yet as much as we should reserve all judgement until the game comes out and it turns out to be good. I cannot emphasize this enough, especially for a revamp to a game that I thought was kind of mediocre to begin with. So don't blame me for being this cautious ;) I know there are a lot of people out there who really like this game and even some who think it's one of the greatest games of all time so this might not be a big worry for them. But for me, I'm still kind of skeptical about it all.

As you all know, I found FFVII to be a mildly entertaining game with some redeeming aspects but others I found to be quite dated and boring. The gameplay and graphics at the time were what pulled it through. However, it was weighed down by uninteresting characters and confusing/unrelated plot points and exposition. These are what prevented it from being a great game. However, I'm still holding out hope that Square will hopefully correct these problems with this new remake and we can finally have ourselves something that I can proudly proclaim an instant classic ;) Jayking116 (talk) 03:17, June 16, 2015 (UTC)

I hope it's gonna be a good remake. I'm not a fan of Advent Children art style but at least they need to keep the characters in their original outfits (very likely, Cloud seems to have the same soldier outfit in the debut trailer). They're not gonna mess it up, I hope. FFVII is a mid tier FF on my FF ranking but I'll try not to say something negative about this game too much on any forum or Facebook. I don't want to get hit with a tornado, bro. just hope we'll get a good game and that's best for everyone. Monterossa (talk) 05:23, June 16, 2015 (UTC)
True, all we can do for now is anticipate that it will be a good game. I just hope they don't turn it into a hack and slasher FFXV type game :v Jayking116 (talk) 08:38, July 6, 2015 (UTC)
Second most overrated game in the series imo, also has the most unwarranted hate, and still one of my favorites.
My main concern about the remake is it may retcon Cloud's personality to the emo version from later media based in the FFVII universe.

( •_•) I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but your first paragraph was completely backwards to say the least. You started off by saying it was the second most overrated game in the series but then you go on to talk about how it's one of your favorites and you don't think it deserves all the hate it gets? I'm confused...
Also, this is a serious question I have... Why is it such a bad thing that Cloud's an emo? I actually think he has more reason than anybody in the FF series to be this angsty and unsocial individual. I seriously don't get all the hate surrounding his characters personality transition. If you watch AC you'll realize he actually has a good reason to be so torn up and aloof. Plus, he was never that interesting to begin with... But maybe I'm just not the right person to be judging him :L Jayking116 (talk) 08:38, July 6, 2015 (UTC)
A lot of people take one of two extremes with FF VII; the game is near flawless, or the game is garbage and gets a hate rant. As for being overrated and also being one of my favorites the two are not mutually exclusive just like how being overrated is not a synonym for being bad. The game has its flaws but haters go to the point where they make arguments which are just silly and unwarranted; claiming large weapon size is penis compensation for example.
I don't want Cloud to be the more recent emo version in the remake because it creates a one dimensional character. Cloud does get emotional during the original game as a trait of his character, not the definition of his character.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up for me I guess :v I don't hate this game but I don't love it either. I like it, it's good. But it definitely has it's flaws... And I feel like I like it and dislike it for completely different reasons than most other people. You can check out my other blog post for my full review on it though Jayking116 (talk) 11:44, July 6, 2015 (UTC)
Again, I respectfully disagree with you on that one. I agree that Cloud is very one dimensional and is very much an overrated character. But it's not because of what happened somewhere along the line, it's very much to do with the fact that he was bland from the very beginning. Plus, your missing the very fine detail that his background leading up to the events of AC pretty much calls for a more downbeat and aloof character. Think about everything that has happened to him up to that point. I wanna meet the man who looks good after that. The only difference is that in the original FFVII he occasionally had a wit the equivalent of snake vomit. The only reason that I can think of why so many people defend his original incarnation is because he's safeguarded with a thick layer of nostalgia. Jayking116 (talk) 11:44, July 6, 2015 (UTC)
