What is, in your opinion, the scariest Final Fantasy moment/battle.
Hell House. I'm still emotionally scared from when an angry house decided to attack Cloud and Aeris. Forget Sephiroth, Hell House was the real villian of that game. I'm disappointed that he has yet to return in the sequals.
The barge on the way to Costa De Sol was scary when I first played it. Every time the Gullwings got together I was also freaked me out.
AlcaeusTheWizard - is now actually contributing...well, not really TALK - Force shites upon Reason's back. -Ben Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1736. {{{time}}}
When I found out that Kuja was a man.
^LOL I don't know what it is called but there is this "wall" in FF4 that closes in like a tonberry. I stoped playing FF4 not because it is scary but it was also a tough boss.
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 01:01, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
See the gallery below. "CSM's scariest moments"
Zodiark's Darkja attack (low-level challenging him)
My most recent scary moment was when I went hunting into the Great Crystal to hunt for the Excalibur. Then an army of Mom Bombs (at least half a dozen) came out of nowhere and killed all three players I was using at the time. I barely got out of there with my balls still in one piece. Another one was leaving the Sunken Plane from FFVII and sailing right into Emerald WEAPON. Who promtly ate my liver with some fava beans and nice chianti.
Easy. In World Three of FF5, you fight this nude blonde-of-a-boss that looks quite similar to that Wind Demon in FF4. When Zario and I was playing FF5 in the SNES emulator, we literally turned off the sprite layout JUST to fight this battle! Come to think about it, that was pretty funny when we did. Several final bosses look hideous, too, like Exdeath. The Void taking some places in World Three kinda freaked me out, too, but since I've never been IN The Void,...yeah. I haven't played FF8, but Edea looks like a frozen she-devil in her portrait.
Omigosh that wall was sooo scary! I kept dying too, I was way underleveled my first time through FFIV. But I think the most scary part in all final fantasy was in FFVIII when squall was impaled with the icicle thing, I really thought he had died! I was like WTF?!? did I mess up that last fight so it was game over? But then it continued...
I am terrified by the Entite's of FFXII!!!
I don't get the whole Entite thing? How the heck are those scary?
Ever played FFXII? | |||

This isn't so much a moment as an experience. FFIII for the DS has such an f-ed up save system. The final dungeon(s) take at least 3 hours to complete, and you can only save on the world map so there is no way to save in the dungeon at all, plus the Quicksave is useless. Died to the Ahriman? Too bad, start over from outside the Crystal Tower! My belief in God was reaffirmed that night when I finished that dungeon in one try, beating 6 bosses without dying. The thought of having to redo the whole thing over had me biting my nails constantly.
Well then PM if you didn't play FFXII then you wouldn't understand

The very first time I met the Elder Drake in real time in the Via Infinito in FF X-2. I mean, you drop down and then there's this giant thing that just jumps out at you as if though it were gonna attack you. With a VERY loud bang, no less. =D
Masamune22 - "Please allow me to introduce myself; I am a man of wealth and taste." TALK - Time is such a relative thing...
In most games there was an enemy that you could encounter early in the game when your character wasn't ready. In FFVII I charged the Emerald Weapon because I didn't know what it was. In FFIX, I thought that you were supposed to climb out of that hole in Gizamaluke's Grotto and got anally raped by some Grand Dragon. In FFXII, I hit an entite with my sword, thinking it would be easy to kill. In general, if a super enemy is in sight, I'll try and kill it. I did the same thing with the Wild Saurian in the Estersand in FFXII. But the part that got my adrenalin pumping the most was after you beat Sephiroth's first form and the screen goes black. Then, before the screen comes back, One-Winged Angel starts playing. By the time Sephiroth rose to your level, I had shat myself in fear.
I killed a wild saurian in lvl 6 now you mention it and I was really scared! I did a chain of 6 quickenings and I didn't kill him so I run to rabanastre (he almost raped penelo) and then I went back and killed it with just one quickening
JamaBenJamin - I don't want to kill you, but your to ugly to let live. TALK - It's Ben Jamin! Not Benjamin. 15:24, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
My scariest moment is in FFIII when I first beat Salamander (that fight is hell) and forgot to save and then died in Hein's Castle (that dungeon is hell). Not fun

The Time Compression in Final Fantasy 8. That is some acid trip-like experince. Also, thinking I was an uber badass in FF6, and then got raped by Poltergeist. Nice "Silence of the Lambs" refrence BH.

In VII when you first get the sumbarine I accidently attacked Emerald Weapon. Ever since then, I get a little pang in my heart and a little panic in my head when I see it swimming down there.
Henryacores - "É que esta noite vou lançar ao mar/A bruma que houver em mim./Vou beber e cantar este luar/vou dançar até ao fim." TALK - {{{time}}}
Hey! That's MY scary moment, or at least...the whole second part of Nibelhiem Flashback :S. The music is creepy, the place is creepy, SEPHIROTH WAS creepy...and then, Jenova. BANG! I almost shouted of fear! The dead Midgar Zolom is also creepy
|
I remember when I fought ultima weapon on FFX, I thought it was omega so I was really scared!
All of Final Fantasy X-2 *Dies*
I think the scariest moments I have ever had in FF all are from my experiences in FFXI. Scouting around Ifrit's Cauldron by myself, a place that not even a max-level player can solo, filled to the brim with creatures that agro versus magic is scary. Other than that, probably Arrapago Reef. That place is both one of my favorite zones and also INTENSELY creepy.

Dark raven - The Prince must wake soon or the Dark Raven will dominate! TALK - Drums > Guitar, and you know that I'm right. {{{time}}}
Entites, of course. At least at the beginning, when their level is 3 times higher than mine.
Well, I think that when you are at the Golden Saucer, at the hotel. You are waiting for Tifa or Aeris to come in, but mmm... the one that come in is Barret! :S I think that's pretty creepy. Actually that have never happened to me, since Tifa is the one that always come =)... other moment... when Adel absorbs Rinoa and the first time I fought against Safer Sephiroth, I was young haha
The moment I put Final Fantasy XII into my PS2...the horror still haunts me to this very day.
Maverick King - You are not a Snake and I am not an Ocelot. We are men with names. TALK - When the lambs stopped screaming {{{time}}}
YEAH! BH used a "Silence of the Lambs" quote. ^.^ In the beginning of FFXII. When i was playing as wimply lil Vaan only lvl 2 and i accidentally attacked that big ass T-Rex thingy (b4 i got libra).... Watched in horror as it reared it's ugly head and killed my character in one attack.
Pretty much every time I died due to something stupid I did :\. Oh, and I also think that the part in FFVII where you're raiding ShinRa building and there's a point where you get captured and when you go to sleep and then you wake up, no one is outside and there's bloodtrail or w/e (hey I was like 10 back then :\).
I know two horrifing moments that every player has had: 1.The moment you realize that you just got rid of one of your most important items & 2.The moment you realize that you severely underestimated a boss and know that you aren't even half prepared. This usually happens when one or more of you party dies from thousands of damage after a normal attack. And then you have to do it all over again.
FF VI, Kefka attacks Thamasa. For those of you that haven't played the game, let me paint a scene for you.
After years of fighting, the evil Empire has realized the error of its ways. It's most evil and murderous henchman is in jail, their war machines are being dismantled, and after a long peace talk between the Emperor and the rebels, peace has been restored, and the magical Espers, the very beings the Empire once sought to control, are seeking a truce as well. All is well in the land... Suddenly, there's an evil laugh. That murderous henchman is free and the Emperor is a traitor! The henchman proceeds to have his troops, commanding the strongest war machines ever built, knock the entire party unconscious before single-handedly killing the Espers. When the imperial general overseeing the negotiations tries to stop him, the henchman kills him. More Espers show up to fight, but the henchman kills his own troops and then one by one kills the reinforcement Espers, then heads off on his merry way with plans to attack the Esper homeland. That's some scary shit. Sure, the Floating Continent confrontation was epic, but this really did it for me. Out of nowhere, just when everything seems to be settling down, Kefka appears and makes it worse than ever. Beyond that, Tellah attacking Golbez with Meteor in IV was pretty cool, and the scene where Edea impaled Squall in VIII. But the above scene really chilled me when I first saw it. I heard that laugh, and I'm like "oh god...oh no oh no...oh shit..."
Quetzal8788 - Blindly groping my way around the community. Do not be alarmed! TALK - 23:15, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Malboro encounters in FFX and earlier always threw me into a panic... As did my the first time I saw a Salamand Entite hovering casually towards me in the narrow passages above the Yensan Sandseas. Scary! I think I actually gasped, though, the first time I ran into Negalmuur in the Stilshrine... he came outta nowhere!!
What else was scary in FF6 was opening the Esper gate. It even sounded scary. It was real freaky when Bahamut came out, I thought I was suppose to fight him, So I freaked.
TheSwordofDoubt - Xemnas may not be eternal, but his speeches definitely are. TALK - Nanoha ain't called "The White Devil" for no reason.
Newest Scariest Moment: It's contested by quite a few, really. Let's see...three options.
| |||
When I stole from a chest in X, where Omega weapon was, a friggin mimic pops up and killed Anima, Yojimbo, Bahumut, shiva, ifrit, yuna, and tidus in one hit each. scary stuff.
I've had some scary FF moments:
with some creepy deformed enemies and music...<shudder>
| |||
Seeing yu yevon use cure to undo all the damage id done to him then waste my party in two turns
Maverick King - You are not a Snake and I am not an Ocelot. We are men with names. TALK - When the lambs stopped screaming {{{time}}}
.....um... SA. I think you mean Braska's Final Aeon or Jecht. Yu Yevon was a pussy little spider head bitch. It is impossible to lose to Yu Yevon
Scariest moment for me, would probably be going through Gelnika (aka the sunken plane for those of you who don't know what the hell I'm talking about) then leaving, only to find Emerald Weapon waiting for my ass. The first time that happened, I got lucky because I didn't hit him in the sub. The second time I ran right into his ass, and he promptly kicked my ass, ripped me to shreds, and made me feel like such a n00b for fighting him so early. From that point, I rarely EVER went underwater in FF VII after that.
Well, I also have another scary moment too. It's not as bad as the one above, but still... it's fighting a Mad Malboro in Omega Ruins in FFX for the first time, and forgetting to equip armor to protect from status effects. One Bad Breath, and I could do NOTHING but just watch my characters die a slow and painful death. Their evasion was high enough to keep them from killing themselves in one hit, but the poison took them out anyways. That, and facing a Labyrinth wall (those ugly bitches that can use a multi-target petrify attack) scares the shit out of me. First time I fought one of THOSE, and I died in 5 seconds because of that attack. Petrification in FFX is SO damn cheap. InsaneMonkey 17:05, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
the opening of x-2
@ InsaneMonkey, I know, 3 characters and most petrifying monsters come in pairs or can inflict it on your whole party. So very rigged....

Yellowmoogle - The fear for blood tends to create a fear for flesh TALK - Go look at a clock. {{{time}}}
This isn't really scary but it's just something that always disturbed me from the 2-D FF's. Anytime your party members walk into the leader and vanish, what happens to them?
TheSwordofDoubt - Xemnas may not be eternal, but his speeches definitely are. TALK - Nanoha ain't called "The White Devil" for no reason.
I remember asking my siblings that question when I saw it happen on FF IX in the Ice Cavern. They couldn't give me a straight answer. At least FF VIII didn't give you that.
Maverick King - You are not a Snake and I am not an Ocelot. We are men with names. TALK - When the lambs stopped screaming {{{time}}}
YEAH! I always wondered about that. And where the hell are they able to hide their huge ass swords?
DrakemasterDrake - "I would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity." TALK - {{{time}}} The clock on this site is so messed up, why bother?
Ha ha. At least in IX they don't show them walk into each other (VII, VI) but the screen just darkens then just the leader reappears. That has always pissed me off a little, but it's kinda like a Final Fantasy staple, ya know?
Maverick King - You are not a Snake and I am not an Ocelot. We are men with names. TALK - When the lambs stopped screaming {{{time}}}
It's pretty much in any RPG. It was in the first RPG i ever played, Golden Sun. (Which is pretty much one of the best GBA games ever)
DrakemasterDrake - "I would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity." TALK - {{{time}}} The clock on this site is so messed up, why bother?
That's a decent game, but there were only four characters and the story got out of hand after Jenna was kidnapped in that big temple that was the first really hard dungeon (after the snow town). The story reminded me a little of The Lord Of The Rings, there were so many characters. Wasn't there a way to get power uped versions of the characters in the sequel? I'm still waiting for a third one.
Maverick King - You are not a Snake and I am not an Ocelot. We are men with names. TALK - When the lambs stopped screaming {{{time}}}
kinda. You know how you team up w/ Issac in the 2nd one? Well, you can take your save data from the first GS and give it Issac in the second GS so he'll be like he was when you beat the game. If you don't, he'll have ok equipment and only 5 djiins per character. You also need to do that to unlock some of the most powerful weapons and the best summon in the game, Iris. I like the whole "all the characters are "red mages" thing" and Djiins. For those of you who don't know what Djiins are, they were little bastard you found and could use in battle for special attacks. using them could unlock summons and even change your characters magic. It was a pretty deep combat system if you think about it. I don't think there is gonna be a third one.... It ends pretty much after two cuz Alchemy is restored.
DrakemasterDrake - "I would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity." TALK - {{{time}}} The clock on this site is so messed up, why bother?
Well, a prequel would be nice.... And Djiin is proounced genie, for those of you that don't know, but is more commonly called [di-jin] because of it's spelling. This has been accepted in modern society.
My scariest FF moment would have to be when I had just beaten the FF7 demons wall when i had a power cut, the image stayed on-screen for a second and in the darkness thats bloody scary, and i've seen Hostel.
ok, so it's preety down on the list, but its to divert frm this Aerith/s thing and relax a little. my worst FF moments are all surprisingly mostly in FFXII (its a great game tho):

Oh man. The Great Crystal without a map... scary. That's why I immediately hit up GameFAQs after I ran into that first 12x Mom Bomb room (also scary).
when I played the great crystal, actually it wasn't hard, you only had to go down. I did it without internet cause the place I was at that time didn't had internet :D
Angel of Heresy - It is all the same to me, my heart is filled with dust and sand… TALK - The High Seraph {{{time}}}
The Demon Wall (especially the first) in XII freaked me out! When I was fighting the second one, I examined a flame but it only made it move quicker so I quickly examined another flame and that made it quicker too! Wow... only two flames out of the six actually do that, I must be really unlucky xD Seeing Anima for the first time in X was pretty intimidating too! And whenever I unintentionally kept walking into dark aeons... I'm such a ditz.
No, Pablo, the 1st time u come to the great crystal was easy, its when u came fr Ultima, excalibur, and Omega that hell breaks loose with the zodiac switchgates and timers... and those fuckin bombs.
That's what I was taking about -.- The other time is entirely optional
My scariest FF-related moment would be when i saw my big brother fight the last form of Ultimecia. He got defeated, and i was scared half to death by her, and for a week i dreamed my brother was Squall and he would continously be killed by the Apocalypse spell, and all i could do was watch...
VII: When I first got raped by Emerald Weapon (seriously, what FFVII player wasn't demolished by Emerald?). When I accidentally ran into Ruby Weapon to see a big-monster pop out. X-2: The very first time I entered Via Infinito, before I knew of it's dangers, on the first floor, there was an Elder Drake. I thought "meh, couldn't be too hard..." and fought it. Was down in less than a minute. Also, getting traped in a loop by a Mushroom cloud on the final floors. That sucked terribly.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE? Oh, scariest thing ever: Brachioraidos. Kaiser Dragon is a widdle baby wuss- I handled him four times already, won without too much a scratch. When you have someone using regular attacks than Cloud's Omnislash could only dream of (9999*16 versus 9999*15, most attack power Cloud could ever do) in a single turn (Quick, Genji Glove, Master's Scroll and two Ultima Weapons), you have an invincible melee master. Heck, I put the easy way out in the Kaiser and Omega pages. Brachioraidos in FFIV reflected spells off himself, and I couldn't get its tempo. Kain died a lot, and he was the one who killed Bahamut by himself- several times over.
When Vaan apeared at the start of FFXII. Nearly as bad as the exorsist. No but really, probably the entities. Although they are ot scary when you have killed them lots of times, like when you want bloody Sagatirus!! And all you need to survive Zodiarks Darja is dark masks. No, wait. When you run though Nechrohol of Nabudis to get the zodiak spear and you are so under levelled as you have not even been to the phon coast yet. No, its getting lost in the great crystsl, the map is less than helpful. - Bells of Freedom
- Initial Reality: my scariest moments are: -When I first played II and wandered into the strong-lvl territory right next to Fynn, and after realizing random battles are based on number of steps, I saved my game when my party was on the brink of death with no items. I was 1 step in any direction from certain doom. Had to start my game over because of it. -Anytime in XII when I didn't have a bangle equipped or Libra cast. -The ShinRa mansion. Mostly due to the fact I was playing through it while in a dark empty house on my dad's large flatscreen -In XII, going the wrong way in the great crystal thus screwing myself for the next 2 hours. -Fighting god Kefka late at night
BlueLionheart - "Be careful, dear friend, lest you fall into the endless ocean of stars..." - 水風死 TALK - Dance!!!
My most-recent scary moment occured when I was stupid enogh to go fighting Lich in Final Fantasy with an unconsious White Mage and no Phoenix Downs!!! I freaked out, but I made it through the battle. Goining up against Rosso when you are totally unprepared is scary, too. I quit the game for 7 months, but picked it up again and won. AFTER the second try...
