I've just thought of a cool, but strange, idea. Just like the Rules of the Internet, we make our own rules for Final Fantasy. It doesn't have to make sense, but the more ridiculous it is, the more likely an admin will ban this topic. Pikmin Master 15:29, December 20, 2009 (UTC)

Da Rules! (Make sure you read before making one, as I had to delete clones. ~P.M.)

  1. The main character WILL wield a bladed weapon. No exceptions.
  2. If there's a female, that female will be the best spellcaster. If there's a male, that male will be the best warrior.
  3. Rule 2 also applies to girly-looking men and manly-looking women.
  4. The Spell Repertoire MUST and ALWAYS include Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and Ultima Spells. Nothing else matters after that.
  5. Attaining things in the game requires a lot of battling.
  6. If a Greatsword ISN'T bigger than the Hume characters, it is not a Greatsword.
  7. As of Final Fantasy VI, every Summoner spell repertoire set MUST include an ultimate summon.
  8. It cannot be Final Fantasy without at least one of these trademark animals: Chocobos or Moogles.
  9. Gravity is just a spell. Because of this, people's hair doesn't have to be submitted to the laws of gravity.VoidCommanderExdeath 01:00, December 21, 2009 (UTC) (9 and 10) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  10. The major antagonist, no matter what are his weapons, fights with magic only
  11. Tornadoes do not kill you. NEVER. Just "reduce your HP". Xelias-
  12. At least one important character either has blond hair, blue eyes, or both. Kuzlalala 06:09, December 21, 2009 (UTC)
  13. As of Final Fantasy IV, there will always be three female party members in the main series. No more. No less. Among these female party members, one MUST be ridiculously hot, one a ditz, and the other either a combination of the two or the serious one. Any of them can also be an adequate fighter. --Cluna 06 06:24, December 21, 2009 (UTC) Pikmin Master (14 and 15) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  14. Shinryu will kill you.
  15. If you stare at someone with a beautiful body, like Tifa or a Viera and NOT get beaten up, you deserve whatever you want. Pikmin Master Exdeath64 21:29, January 6, 2010 (UTC) (17 and 72) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  16. The final boss will ALWAYS transform at least once in the course of the storyline, even if they change at the last minute for the final confrontation. Of course, this never helps and they die anyway, but damn if it does not look cool. Exdeath64 20:42, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
  17. If there is more then one potential love interest for the main character, there will be flamewars about who is the "canon" interest. Exdeath64 20:42, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
  18. Any spells that sound cool and powerful, such as gravity, death, doom, break, etc will in fact be useless except under very specific circumstances. Naturally, spells that just shoot fire and ice will be much more useful.
  19. Each major project must feature a generation of Gunblade somewhere.
  20. Kefka and Sephiroth will always tie, no matter how much power/popularity/number of fangirls any of them get. Pikmin Master
  21. Bahamut is ALWAYS a summon. If there is no ultimate summon, Bahamut (or any version of Bahamut) will fill that role. Pikmin Master
  22. Guns fail. If guns are decent, they are still less than or equal to the sword. Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  23. NEVER underestimate the shorties! Pikmin Master
  24. As of FFVII, there must always be at least one Summon with an exceedingly long, over-the-top animation. VoidCommanderExdeath 20:06, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
  25. As of Final Fantasy VI, there is always one unnecessary, anthropomorphic playable character: Umaro, Red XII, Cait Sith, Zell (we know he's an alien sent to show how bad characters can get), Quina Quen, Kimahri and Fran Ollie 20:22, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
  26. As of Final Fantasy VI, Biggs and Wedge must appear in the game, whether or not they live doesn't matter. Naruto195 20:25, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
  27. As of Final Fantasy VI, there always a girl that is important to the plot, and they ether fall in love with the games protagonist or they are the protagonist.  NeoZEROX Dissicon ff6 Ter4 22:39, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
  28. There will ALWAYS be something running around the game world which is several times more powerful then the final boss, and will probably kill you in one turn the first time you bother fighting it. Naturally, you get nothing for killing the thing. Exdeath64 08:43, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  29. Before Final Fantasy XII ,there must always be one line of dialogue that is mistranslated or makes no sense at all. Naruto195 08:47, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  30. If a character in a game has a unique sprite they are likely important to the plot, if not, then they are either going to die as cannon fodder, or say the exact same thing every time you talk to them, or something equally useless. Exdeath64 08:50, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  31. Every Final Fantasy games must have "Final Fantasy" in the title. Captain Obvious 10:17, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  32. With the exception of Zidane, every thief in the Final Fantasy series must be very weak in terms of strength but must be able to steal. Final Fantasy One doesn't count. Naruto195 21:22, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  33. Just to make life simpler, the original Final Fantasy is ironically exempt from most, if not all of the rules of Final Fantasy Ollie 23:26, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  34. For every character that exist, there exists a fanboy/girl to support said character. Ollie 11:00, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
  35. There must always be a airship in the game and it will be obtained towards the end. Naruto195 03:13, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  36. There is dirty fanart of every Final Fantasy character. Even Quina. FaythOfFenrir 03:56, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  37. As of FFVII, there must always be at least one male character with a weapon that they are obviously overcompensating for something with. VoidCommanderExdeath 04:24, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  38. The bigger the sword, the smaller the...magic stat. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  39. If the character is a dragoon, or has the jump ability, they can jump without regard to physics or ceiling height. No exceptions will be made for this rule, unless used as a throwaway gag in a future game or as a plot point due to designer laziness. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  40. Stating that a character "needs to get laid" does not always validate your theory on if said character has a love interest. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  41. You WILL have more then one option for transportation, be it multiple airships, teleportation, Chocobo (or some other weird-ass animal), or other. Exactly one of these will be of practical value by the end of the game. If not (See Final Fantasy XII) one will be far more useful then the other for most situations and you will forget about the second one until you absolutely have to use it because you ran out of some random item needed to make the good one work. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  42. Practicality, engineering, thermodynamics, euclidean geometry, the theory of relativity and general physics have no place in building design, weapon forging, battle sequences, and ESPECIALLY limit breaks within the Final Fantasy series. Just how many of these things get ignored depends on the exact game, but a general rule is at least one will get thrown out the window and hit Aerith on the way down. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  43. No, having that many zippers on a character's clothing does not hinder how said character uses the toilet, quit asking. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  44. If a race only seems to have one gender, it will later be explained away to stop people from drawing explicit fan art, naturally, this will not work even a little, and may actually make things worse. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  45. The less practical the weapon, the more damage you can do with it. That being said, if a weapon actually has a snowballs chance in hell of working in reality, it will suck. EXAMPLE: If a weapon is strung together with magic, pasta, "Love" (Read: The designers were too lazy to come up with anything better), and library paste, it will be capable of destroying the entire world and probably a good chunk of the solar system due to some convoluted plot reason. If its just a simple sword, it won't do jack and will likely get you killed by a rabbit or something equally pathetic. (Also known as the "gunblade" rule) Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  46. You can only hold 99 of each and every item. Got 99 pebbles? Sorry, no more. 99 grains of sand? That's all. Regardless, you can move easily. Got 99 Excaliburs in your pack? No problem. SilverCrono Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC) (48 and 54) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  47. If the character has a tail, pulling on it will not reduce its power level and will likely get you killed in the most brutal manner possible. But at least if you live, you get bragging rights. Exdeath64 07:59, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  48. Aerith's death made you cry, and will always make you cry no matter how many times you have seen it. No exceptions. FaythOfFenrir 17:46, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  49. A character named Cid will at least be mentioned in every game, even the first one. Pikmin Master 18:11, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  50. Every main/playable character has to have at least ONE piece of concept art by either Amano or Nomura. VoidCommanderExdeath 18:53, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
  51. It is the destiny of one character to do something that, should s/he accept, would regret it. Said destiny will always be stopped in the end. Pikmin Master
  52. The Final Boss must either be immortal or have to means to become immortal, even if it means traveling back in time. Pikmin Master 17:31, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
  53. Immortal or not, the player destroys the Final Boss's physical form. Pikmin Master 17:31, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
  54. All endings to all Final Fantasy games must be left unexplained and vague (requiring either the player to imagine what happened or a shitty sequel to explain what happened.) Goo Rayder 18:00, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
  55. Character death in battle is easily solved with a quick item, spell, or rest at an inn. Death outside of battle is always permanent. No matter how many healing items you have, using them won't actually do anything within cutscenes. Leogon255 19:32, January 4, 2010 (UTC) Exdeath64 19:33, January 4, 2010 (UTC) (58 and 60) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  56. Final Fantasy VI & XII's main character will always be debated on. Leogon255 19:32, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
  57. Every main character party must include a Hume. SilverCrono 01:01, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  58. Every online Final Fantasy MMORPG must have a monthly fee. SilverCrono 01:02, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  59. If someone tells you to do something, you must then therefore go do it. If someone tells you not to do something, you must go do it anyway. VoidCommanderExdeath 01:36, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  60. If anything is said to be a rumor in-game, it is always true. VoidCommanderExdeath 01:36, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  61. As of FFIV, there must always be some kind of giant robot in the form of an enemy, summon, and/or plot device. VoidCommanderExdeath 01:36, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  62. If it appears as a random encounter or any sort of enemy, no matter what it is, you can kill it and if you cannot, you need only level grind until you can. Behemoth, the legendary monster from the Bible? You can kill it and eat steaks taken from it. Any number of dragons? You can kill several and steal their body parts for easy gil. Cthulu starts dragging Ry'Leh out of the seas? You can punch him out and eat a tentacle for a full recovery. Hell, you see Steven Colbert in a random encounter? Kill the guy with a Doublecasted Ultima and grab his glasses, they give +50 to your magic stat. Exdeath64 02:32, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  63. If a character is based on any ethnic group that is not white, they will be portrayed in a stereotypical way that would get SE sued if they were based in America. Also known as the "Barret Rule". Exdeath64 02:41, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
  64. Moogles are not "puntable" unless you want a Firaga Enema. If you do want a Firaga Enema, there is something seriously wrong with you. Also known as the "Dancing Moogle" rule. Exdeath64 21:29, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
  65. Just because Bangaa are nearly blind does not mean they are not capable enough to beat your ass if you point this out to them or mock them for it. Exdeath64 21:29, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
  66. Offering the Nu Mou a dog biscuit or mocking their physical abilities is a BAD idea. They have Scathe for a reason. Exdeath64 21:29, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
  67. "Jenova cells infected my PlayStation" is not an acceptable reason for why you cannot kill Emerald Weapon. Exdeath64 21:29, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
  68. If you believe an alien is your Mother, you pick up sticks or knives and pretend they're swords or you force you pets to fight believing them to be summons, you must stop playing immediately and seek medical help, a girlfriend or boyfriend (depending on gender and orientation) or both. Goo Rayder 21:48, January 6, 2010 (UTC)
  69. Unless you can exploit their weaknesses, don't mess with the Black and White Mages.81.109.164.2 22:31, January 6, 2010 (UTC) Exdeath64 01:46, January 7, 2010 (UTC)  Armageddon11! Dissicon ff12 Gab2 22:42, January 20, 2010 (UTC) (76, 77, 86) Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  70. Garland will knock you down. VoidCommanderExdeath 20:33, January 11, 2010 (UTC)
  71. If male, the villain will either be a knight archetype, or be the final boss and enter an angelic like form. If female, they will wear revealing or expensive-looking outfits. Non-human final bosses are the exceptions to these rules, unless they're the villain, in which case they will have a second form. Pikmin Master 22:54, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
  72. Dragoons, even if roughly, will always have a tragic ending.--Cluna 06 00:02, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
  73. Gilgamesh must appear looking for Excalibur but usually results in him getting Excalipoor. Wolfram445
  74. Turtles are not to be poked, prodded, or messed with in any way. Exdeath64 10:00, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
  75. Don't tease the octopus, if the Octopus teases YOU, Fire is always effective. Exdeath64 10:03, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
  76. usually the ultimate weapon or weapons will make you do a bunch of crap not even worthy of getting them when you could've beat the game without them.Guardian of terra 22:22, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
  77. Each area much contain one or two enemies used for training or entertaining battles but also have many random harmless enemies that serve no purpose other then to piss you off and make you want to cry. Cyice Wings 00:20, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

  1. 23 'If Bahamut is a summon, he'll be the stongest summon. And Bahamut's ALWAYS a summon.' Isn't Knights of the Round stronger in FF7? And Bahamut isn't even summonable in FF 1 or 2 The Wild Rose 17:40, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Chibi-Unita

Hmm as for Bahamut being the strongest summon in every game it appears in ix i think the Ark was stronger.66.203.32.62 18:58, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

@above poster - See rule 7. FF6 doesn't really count, Bahamut is bhebtter than THAT game's so called 'Ultimate Summon'. Seriously, not even reraise is worth that one to be summoned. you could do something similar with meltdown, except make it a full party heal at the same time! 81.109.164.2 19:01, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

We seem to have a few repeats, I am a tad busy so could someone go through here and consolidate those that are redundant? Exdeath64 00:26, January 29, 2010 (UTC)

Do we REALLY need more Rule 34 for Final Fantasy? Exdeath64 00:17, January 30, 2010 (UTC)
