Just an open thought for my first forum topic. How much of an FF completist are you? I can be very picky when it comes to completing my games. On my current run-through of FFXII, for example, I intend to not board the Bahamut until I have done everything - down to collecting all weapons, armour and abilities on the License Board (though not as far as things like loot or bazaar items). I once stopped playing a save file of FFVIII because I forgot to draw Alexander at the end of Disk 2 and didn't realise til I was a couple of hours into disc 3 (even though I knew I could acquire him in Ultimecia's Castle). I hope there are worse cases out there than me :)
Meh, I just kill the final boss, complete all plot points, and kill any superbosses which happen to be lying around. Very few things in these games are lost forever by the way. Exdeath64 04:37, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorta like that Kevio except at some point i just want to see what happens then get the other stuff.--Uzuki18 15:44, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
For me, not much. If it's Pokemon, then yes.
Well yeah, Pokemon is built on full completion. Though good luck getting ALL of them, its damn near impossible with the wankers on the GTS overcharging for everything. Exdeath64 18:40, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

For me its neither here nor there. I do like to collect all the best equipment and so on, and I often restart games halfway done because I felt I could have done better. On the other hand, I care more about the story than anything else, I'm not into insane min/max-ing, and I don't often bother with superbosses &c.
Oh, Exdeath, I already got all of them. The first 386 by either naturally or Gameshark SP (in which I got them by Pal Park) and the rest either naturally, tweak, or GTS. I got my Arceus from a guy who got it from a guy who hacked it.

I got my Arceus at Toys R Us. Gamestop is passing out Jirachis from this weekend until some time in March (in the US, at least). You can get a lot of the others by playing the Gamecube games. On the topic of the forum, though, it depends on how much I like the game.
The Toys R Us nearest to my home was replaced by a Best Buy. Now there isn't a Toys R Us for miles. Gamestop, however, is close enough. My brother is trying to complete the FFI GBA Bestiary. He's almost done.
Yeah, my little brother has all of them but the Jhoto legendaries. I swear he has less of a life then even me. Exdeath64 21:35, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
I enjoy getting everything and doing everything before the final boss - I mean I want the game to last so I can enjoy it longer. :3 (StrawberryFlower 22:33, February 25, 2010 (UTC))
Well, it try to do as much as I can before I enter the final dungeon, but I draw the line at super bosses and ultra obscure quests, like the whole "don't open all the chests" thing in XII. (how the hell did anyone figure that out in the first place?) Jamiemitsu FTW 22:37, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
I usually play through the story, finish it, then replay it later and do everything in the game. With Final Fantasy games, however, this is no easy feat~

I find myself to be a very OCD-like completist. If I don't finish the Bestiary, I get really irritated and go on a grinding frenzy. But generally, I tend to finish all my games, but only if they don't bore me.
Doing everything in XII was a very OCD like thing, but it was brilliant. I just can't bring myself to to do any minigame. They're all terrible, and I don't feel bad about skipping them completely. --Discordius 01:13, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
No, not the FFXII Bestiary. I mean like FFI & II, FFIII, FFIV, etc...
I got 492 out of 493 Pokemon without cheating, then got bored and quit playing Pokemon. On topic, I completed the bestiary for I GBA, II GBA, and III DS, everything in IV DS that can be gotten on a single playthrough (i.e., no Geryon or Protobabil, no Brina but yes Calcabrina, no whatever that crazy doctor's second form is), everything in V GBA that isn't in the bonus dungeon, and I'm currently trying to complete my VI bestiary not just with every monster, but every monster formation (Makes getting Rages such a pain). Speaking of which, I spent an insane amount of time getting every Rage possible to get at the point in the game I was at before entering Cave on the Veldt (And I succeeded! I now hatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehateHATE Cactuars, though. It took me an absurdly long time to encounter one on the Veldt so I could get its Rage), and I'm trying to do it again now that I've gone to a few new areas. And I got the Rainbow Pudding for Namingway in FFIV DS, which shows how much of a completionist I really am. (For those who haven't played the DS version, this is the most annoying and time-wasting sidequest ever. Goddamn you, Puddingway.) I try to get everything possible (including cutscenes), go to every secret area, hear every new NPC conversation, kill every monster in an area before leaving it (Hence, my bestiary completion), and I once spent around 1-3 months leveling up not only my FFIII DS characters up to level 99, not only doing it so that they would have the maximum HP (Which is also a bit frustrating, and involved your whole party being restricted to one class, as well as a hell of a lot of luck and resetting), but then leveling up every job for every character to 99 (Including Onion Knight, btw) in order to get their ultimate weapons. (And after I'd gotten an ultimate weapon with whoever was level 99 in their job, I leveled up the other three to 99 in the same job for the hell of it.) I'm currently dreading playing FFXI, where it's practically impossible to encounter every monster, and where even if certain superbosses don't absolutely destroy me, I'm certain to die to Absolute Virtue. Hell, does XI even have a bestiary?
tl;dr version: I'm one hell of a completionist. (Well, except when it comes to playing through IV a second and third time, and challenging the V bonus dungeon...) Don't try this at home, kids. 98.109.80.126 15:35, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Ehhh, I'm more about unlocking bonus things rather than getting one of everything, perfect character levelling etc. The mascot dressphere drove me insane, (I still haven't gotten all the episodes complete) I guess, I prefer something I can recognise as of use to me somewhere else rather than get the best weapon from the ultimate boss. Oh and, how's this for luck. I got the rainbow pudding early on when looking for the antlion on FFIV DS, still, I messed up the augments on that save so I guess it wasn't all great. Mog&Boko
