All the characters of the Final Fantasy games have been brought together inside the universe of Final Fantasy 8. The roleplay is set before the storylines of the games to allow all characters to be alive and well. This also means histories will need to take this into account and relationships with characters in the same game will not exist yet although you can assume they are more likely to be friends with characters they befriend during a game. You are a SeeD, a mercenary raised by an educational centre known as a Garden, your ultimate goal is said to be to battle The Sorceress, although there are several known sorceresses in the world so it is yet to be determined which sorceress that will be, until then you will be hired on various missions ranging from finding a lost puppy to providing reinforcements for an army. Galbadia Garden harbours the villains/monsters of the Final Fantasy worlds, apply here if your character enjoys missions of destruction and world domination. (evil/neutral) Balamb Garden employs the heroe of the FF universes, apply here if your character enjoys missions promoting peace and prosperity in the land. (good/neutral) Trabia Garden employs wanderers from all walks of life, be you a hero or a villain you will be welcomed with open arms. There are various mission requests to this garden, including reinforcements for other garden so no matter what missions your character prefers he will find one to suit him/her here. (any alignment) There are five major continents in the world, Galbadia is the largest with an army to match, they have a rather greedy president, Vinzer Deling, and the other lands stay on guard, fearing the possible expansion of his empire. Their main rival is the Esthar continent to the east, the grand city Esthar with advanced technologies, ruled by Sorceress Adel. Their is also Trabia, an icy continent to the north where the mysterious races live in peace from the human wars, it is also where Trabia Garden takes care of those who have lost their way. Balamb is a small island continent in the middle of all of the rest. It is where the proud Balamb Garden was built and has been developing for years. Other than that there is a small port town, Balamb town and a mysterious fire cavern. To the south is a mysterious continent only known as Centra. It is said there once was a civilisation here but it was lost in an event known as a Lunar Cry which brought monsters from the moon to earth, now the continent is a barren waste-land with only the occasional ruin in sight.
