I am making a suggestion.

Currently we have a template called Template:BattleNav. My suggestion is we move it to "Template:Events" or something similar and add more events. Other events we could include are Aerith's Death.

Firstly, battles in the series aren't that important. I mean, the Raid on Midgar isn't really a battle. It's just a part of the story. We could call the Raid on Shinra Building on disk 1 a battle too. A battle is just an event that involves conflict.

We already do this already, albeit on a smaller level. The {{FFVII}} nav doesn't have a "Battles" section. But it does have an "Events", which does include battles. That happened to be the first Nav I looked at. I think all the other Navs just incorporate them into Events. But we should have an Events template.

Currently we have no Nav for recurring events, but we do have for Battles. But Battles are no different from events, they are events-- as sub-division of events. And there are few defining factors. We should stop viewing "Battles" as one of our type of article, and instead look at them as "Events" articles. If you think about it, battles and other events don't have to have articles that structurally different. 79.69.207.24 18:05, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

I had made this earlier. I may have missed some events because I haven't played all games/don't remember much of some of the games I have played. I think events template is not a bad idea, and maybe more events should have articles! Just defining what qualifies for one may be difficult.
Why is the battle navigation template green btw?Keltainentoukokuu 18:13, January 1, 2012 (UTC)
Originally all our Navs colours were based on what they were of. A number of them have been changed to series colours and BattleNav is not one of them. Bluer's colour pick was "spiffy military colors". 79.69.207.24 18:19, January 1, 2012 (UTC)
That's funny because none of the FF militaries actually have green uniforms. ;) It's all red and blue and neon colours.Keltainentoukokuu 18:23, January 1, 2012 (UTC)
Do what you want with Raid on Midgar. It wasn't that bright on my part, mmkay? Just lemme know if you're going to revamp or torch it so I can dump it in my userspace. It is my first major, template, and table mainspace work. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW01:29, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
No, the article is fine.
It's just some of the things we may classify as battle aren't really classified as a battle by the developer's. The entire game is a game where you fight enemies. The only real battles are the ones where the party team up with an entire city's military (end of XII, FE).
I don't want to delete any articles.
I want to move away from the "Battle" classification, and just move everything under the umbrella term "Events". Since we don't have a nav for events, and we do for Battles, when battles are just a type of event and we don't want to encourage battle articles more than other event articles. 79.69.204.110 13:46, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
I know. But getting rid of the Battle classification could mean getting rid of battle which would make it on the whole a very different article.(Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW18:22, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
Build up to the event, the event itself, the repercussions of the event. So the the sectioning can be identical, with some points renamed, and the pointless battle template would be removed]]. A different viewpoint may be taken the event which might change the structure of the sentences and wording, and it could open up the article (by expanding the definition) to include more information.
