I know they do this in the NES version, but do they in the DS version? I need to know because I'll be getting the DS one for Christmas and if Monks don't get a bonus for barehand attacking, I'm not using them.

P.S. Do Black Belts do this?

Monks and Blackbelts draw their barehanded damage from their Job Level, so if it's high enough, it'll surpass any weapons in the game. I can give you the example of my Job Level 70 Monk, who had an attack stat of +200 at level 40, barehanded.

So yes, Monks are awesome if trained as soon as you get the Wind Crystal throughout the storyline, or if you grind a bit with them.
