What I always suspected has now been confirmed -- Vagrant Story is not set in the world of Ivalice and the so-called "references" to FFT in the game were just Easter eggs and not actually story-significant. I also suspected that Square Enix (not Matsuno) was the one who retconned VS into Ivalice during the development of FF12 in an attempt at hyping the latter game.

The truth has been told and I hope the fanbase will learn about it and accept it. Please don't burn me at the stake like Olan Durai :p Arazlam W. Durai 00:29, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

"VS and FFT is not the same place. but it's my thought and may be different from the publisher.

The Scenario Writer does not think Vagrant Story belongs to the same Ivalice of Final Fantasy titles. However, this doesn't mean that Square doesn't make the connection.

I personally believe Vagrant Story does not belong to the Final Fantasy canon after reading this, but the decision of removing Vagrant story out of our scope should be discussed. I honestly have plenty of mixed feelings about it. - Henry acores ^ 00:40, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

It is still canon, and if FFXII makes references to VS these references are probably notable (albeit against Matsuno's wish), but references to Ivalice in VS itself on the other hand are no longer valid IMO. Take This one for example. We kind of have to take into account the real world chronology to avoid making "anachronisms" (i.e. when Matsuno made VS he didn't make it with Ivalice in mind). Arazlam W.
