Forgotten Continent

The Forgotten Continent (忘れられた大陸, Wasurerareta-dairiku) is the westernmost of the four main continents on the world map of Gaia in Final Fantasy IX. All of its major destinations, such as Oeilvert, Ipsen's Castle, and the Wind Shrine, are inaccessible unless the player has arrived on the continent by air, as tall cliffs around the continent's perimeter prevent any beach landings. The Forgotten Continent is nearly devoid of all intelligent life, with only a few Moogles inhabiting its various ruins. Depending on the player's position on the continent, the different angles and intensity of sunlight give the impression of twilight.
There are two Qu's Marshes on the Continent, one on the mainland and another on an island to the southwest. The Salvage Archipelago is considered part of the Forgotten Continent as it lies to the south. The city of Daguerreo and Chocobo's Lagoon are locations on this chain of islands. Two of these are Lanar Island and Uaho Island.
