Calls upon the power of the forest to attack enemies and cure allies' status ailments.
Forest Nocturne (もりのノクターン, Mori no Nokutān?), also known as Forest Suite, is a recurring ability originally used by Mog from Final Fantasy VI, whom the ability is most often associated with. It is a Dance-based move that conjures the power of the forest to various effects, healing statuses or dealing damage. The sub abilities are typically Leaf Swirl (non-elemental damage to all opponents), Forest Healing (healing status effects) and Wombat (non-elemental damage to one opponents), and Forest Nocturne's abilities typically either lead to, or allude to, one of these.
Forest Nocturne's first appearance is as a Dance command used by Mog, and once used, can during the Dance duration use the Leaf Swirl (unblockable non-elemental damage to all enemies ignoring split damage reduction, and with a spell power of 50), Forest Healing (recovery from Blind, Poison, Petrify, Silence, Confuse, Sap, Sleep, Slow, and Stop) and Wombat (non-elemental damage to one opponent, unblockable, spell power of 88). As a Dance, it is learned when Mog fights in a particular location. Mog can learn Forest Nocturne by fighting in the following locations: Forest, Phantom Forest, Phantom Train's battle background, Bomb forest and dinosaur forest.
Forest Nocturne is an Augment Ability, which improves stats once used and costs 5 CP. Its first level can be learnt by Firion, Rydia, Vivi and Ashe, and Aerith can unlock the third level of it. Rydia and Ashe have the first level of the ability innately, while Firion learns it at level 15 and Vivi at level 25. At level 1, it adds 20 Agility, and 40 Luck during EMS. At its second level, which is unlocked by Firion and Vivi at level 50, and by Rydia and Ashe at level 35 and 45 respectively, it adds 30 Agility and 45 Luck during EMS, but costs 10 CP to equip. The third level is unlocked by Aerith at level 25; by Firion, Vivi and Ashe at level 80; and by Rydia at 70. It adds 40 Agility and 60 Luck during EMS.
Forest Nocturne has the same stat bonuses at the same levels as it did in the original. However, the characters who can learn the ability are different. At level 1, Firion, Squall, Lisette, Ashe, Yuna, Cloud and Machina can all learn the ability. Locke can unlock the ability from level 2, while Aerith can once again learn the ability from level 3.
