Focus is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. Unlike many abilities, Focus has had no real set function, but follows the general formula of increasing a certain stat of the user.

Focus is a Level 1 Black Magic spell. It lowers an opponent's evasion stat by 20. It was called Lock in the original NES version.

Monks can use Focus to double their attack power after a turn.
[edit] Final Fantasy IX
The Focus command is available to Vivi to increase his magic power. Vivi can stack this effect multiple times, making it invaluable in Boss Fights.

Increases Magic Power and Magic Defense of the entire party. Stackable 5 times. Found in Lulu's section of the Sphere Grid.

Found in the Black Mage Dressphere. It increases the user's Magic attack power.

Available to Monks. It is an ability that increases their Accuracy.
[edit] Final Fantasy XII
An Augment that increases the character's strength while at full HP. Focus also appears as an enemy ability that heals HP.

Focus is an ability learned by Rikken and enemy Monks that increases the damage caused by the user's next attack.
