Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan is the third expansion for Final Fantasy XI, the only online incarnation of Final Fantasy yet created. The previous two are Rise of the Zilart, which was released with the North American version of Final Fantasy XI, and Chains of Promathia.
[edit] Changes
The major changes that seem readily apparent from previews are the addition of another continent. This will be the first new continent added by Square-Enix to Vana'diel. This new continent is inhabited by an enlightened empire of Aht Urhgan, which may be a country that the players can support, as well as Beastmen nations inhabited by new types of beastmen, including Trolls, Qiqirn, Mamool Ja, Lamia, and Imps. While most of these are beastmen, some may be hired or interacted with as mercenaries.
They also are offering three new jobs, one familiar and two completely new. Blue Mage, which has been featured in a number of other Final Fantasies, is finally making its online debut, as well as Corsair, a luck-based pirate-like job, and Puppetmaster, a form of entertainer who uses Automatons and their bare fists to do combat.
With the official release of the information on the newest expansion for Final Fantasy XI came a number of interesting comments from the developers about some of their perceived problems with the game, particularly classes, that exist currently. They left a number of these comments on Square-Enix's official website for Final Fantasy XI, PlayOnline.com, including the statement, "At the time of the release of the new expansion, all jobs will be balanced."
