Final Fantasy XI: Rise of the Zilart is an expansion pack of Final Fantasy XI. This expansion pack brings several new areas, jobs, quests and a new mission storyline to the game.

Contents

[edit] Story

The story begins immediately after completion of the original Final Fantasy XI story. Kam'lanaut and Eald'narche reveal themselves as Zilart, an ancient race that was supposedly destroyed thousands of years ago. They plan on reviving the city in the sky, Tu'Lia, and opening the Gate of the Gods in order to bring about Paradise, bringing the ultimate destruction of Vana'diel. It's up to the player to bring a stop to their plans.

[edit] Job Classes

  • Samurai: The Samurai's (SAM) main weapon is the great katana, one of the slower weapons in the game, but it deals a great deal of damage. SAMs are Damage Dealers(DD), and gain TP quickly, which means the job can often use Weapon Skills(WS).
2-hour - Meikyo Shisui: Instantly gives the Samurai 300% TP and allows Weapon Skills to be performed for only 100% TP, allowing for easy self-skillchains.
  • Ninja: Ninjas use abilities to stay alive, and are often used as tanks (making sure the monsters doesn't attack the DDs or mages) by using Utsusemi, a technique which creates several shadows to absorb attacks by the foe.
2-hour - Mijin Gakure: Sacrifice your own life to damage your enemy (without EXP penalties).
  • Dragoon: A melee damage dealer, each Dragoon has a Wyvern to fight by their side, and uses abilities like Jump to kill their foes. Nearly every polearm (spear) in the game is DRG-equippable only, and along with the flying blue wyvern, this makes Dragoons unmistakably identified in-game (many jobs aren't as easily differentiated from others as DRG at low-mid levels).
Occasionally considered a weaker DD (damage-dealer), DRGs are the foremost bringer of piercing weapon damage. This makes Dragoons especially strong against flying enemies.
2-hour - Spirit Surge: The Dragoon absorbs the power of his Wyvern, gaining strong boosts to many stats.
