Final Fantasy XI: A Shantotto Ascension: The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born is the seventh expansion pack for Final Fantasy XI. So far it has been announced to be available exclusively through the PlayOnline network. It is one of three new expansions planned for Final Fantasy XI, the other two being Final Fantasy XI: A Crystalline Prophecy: Ode to Life Bestowing, and Final Fantasy XI: A Moogle Kupo d'Etat: Evil in Small Doses. Like the other two "expansion chapters", it will focus more on exploring the story behind Final Fantasy XI than adding new locations.

The story centers upon the eccentric professor Shantotto, returning to Windurst after an unexplained absence. She then begins to shock her colleagues with outrageous behavior, nothing like her old self. Shantotto then goes as far as to declare herself the ruler of her own personal empire. Adventurers must go out into the world to discover the source behind the new Empress's change in character.
