Final Fantasy XI: A Crystalline Prophecy: Ode to Life Bestowing is the fifth expansion for Final Fantasy XI. So far it has been announced to be available exclusively through the PlayOnline network. It is one of three new downloadable scenario add-ons planned for Final Fantasy XI to be released in 2009, the other two being A Moogle Kupo d'Etat: Evil in Small Doses, and A Shantotto Ascension: The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born. Like the other two downloadable scenarios, it will focus more on exploring the story of Final Fantasy XI with a short series of missions, rather than introuducing any new areas, monsters, jobs or battlefield events. In order to download the scenario, the previous expansion, Rise of the Zilart, as well as the original Final Fantasy XI content must be installed first.

[edit] Storyline

The story involves the return of a giant Crystal of legend above Jeuno, which triggers many strange events across Vana'diel. A Crystalline Prophecy features Aldo and Emeline, the children introduced with the opening CG movie of Final Fantasy XI, and how they are connected to the mysterious "echo".

[edit] Rewards

Upon completion of the missions, a literal 'Key' Key Item will be obtained, which when traded to a special treasure chest in the Tenshodo Headquarters produces a random item from a selection. Some of these items will be equipment, and feature a random 'Augment', a new feature in Final Fantasy XI introduced with the same version update as this scenario.

Completion of the final mission will produce one of three body pieces that can be optionally augmented from two of many exceptional augments.
