You said Hentai five times, in bold, and every other time a banned thing was told. Certianly got the point. Thats why someone uploaded 700 gigabites of it. Well, To say the least the hentai of any charecter is a corruptoin of it. ESPEICALLY with Cortana hentai of similar charecters. (shes a fricking hologram!!!) That should be the main policy regarding hentai based on charecters of FF. Besides being porn.Blade Master Ike 02:43, June 8, 2010 (UTC)
Videospace
Edit
I'm confused how videospace (which is actually filespace, since Wikia merged them last week) works. From what I can tell, videos have a "provider" (that always seems to be YouTube...?) that hosts the videos. All the videos seem to be uploaded by 127.0.0.1. Wikipedia says that IP 127.0 is used by devs and admins to perform behind-the-scenes tech work, etc., so what's it doing here? How does videospace work? Cat 22:52, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
127.0.0.1 is a loopback IP address. You use it to test if a system has network-functionality. I would assume it's not actually the IP they're using, just the "mask" they use.*- I'm going to assume that it works by users inserting a URL of somewhere from another video provider, this then gets put on wiki, and therefore users on the wiki can easily link to it with [[File:[sensible file name]]]... or whatever. Therefore Wikia does not have to host the videos. Of course, the wiki still relies on the video provider to keep the video up.
- But, if the video is used in multiple places, we can see where the video is used and either upload over the file, or replace all the video links because it says what they are.
- I actually have no idea where you upload videos and I haven't done any research, so I don't actually know. 79.69.201.233 14:28, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Which explains why every video I see that hasn't been uploaded by IP127.0 gets deleted — you can just use the youtube tag and save everyone a lot of hassle. The only problem with that is that it seems nobody but Bluer knows the FFWiki YouTube channel password, but you can always use your own channel. Cat 14:52, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- But putting it on wiki makes so much more sense. You can see where the video is used on wiki. It's like using photobucket images over uploading them to the wiki (other than the wiki not having 100% control over the video). 79.69.201.233 15:09, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- I guess. But do we use SECopyright or Screenshot for such videos? They don't seem to be licensed. Cat 15:14, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- We'd need to make a special "Gameplay" license or whatever. It would basically say how the game is copyright to SE, and the video-creator has allowed the wiki to use it. I don't know how copyright works. 79.69.201.233 15:27, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

(←)Hmm... YouTube says that you can only license a video as Creative Commons if the content is copyleft — obviously, Final Fantasy videos aren't.
However, by default videos are listed in the Standard YT License. A Google Search tells me this much about Standard YT:
- "you have the copyrights to all your videos.. it allows people to watch the video, but not copy or distribute or download it"
Essentially, this means that the many videos we have here that are shown by FFWiki without permission are illegally used. I don't think they'll complain, but we are breaking copyright by doing this. At least, if I'm reading this thing right.
In other words, videos on the wiki should ideally only be uploaded by members of the wiki, or on the channel FFWiki. However, we have a great deal of videos.
Not sure what to do there. Cat 20:53, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- It means we should only upload videos to the wiki with permission. This means that you can upload your own videos, Xeno can upload his own videos, and we can upload videos contributed to the FFWiki channel (since the wiki has been given the contribute).
- We shouldn't be uploading other's YT videos (we can use them as an external link/reference though). But really, this already applies. We shouldn't be embedding other's YT videos.
- We also shouldn't really upload or embed videos of music. This is what we have 30sec music OGGs for. We also shouldn't upload videos of FMVs. If we want to show something, a frame, short animation, or cut-down version should be used.
- The videos we upload should be of gameplay. I think someone once explained to me that gameplay videos are fine since it's like an interpretation of a work. But still, it should only show what we are trying to show. As I imagine any video we upload does.
- I probably said more than I need to. Bottom line is we should only upload our own videos, otherwise we need permission from the uploader. And this is also the case for embedding videos too.
- The license itself is... probably Creative Commons? Given its an interpretation. It's not like frames of FMVs which SE designed... a user controlled Cloud who has that HP and MP in that battle to use that Limit Break at that time against those enemies. Would that still be Fairuse? The template should still explain its SE's game.
- What license do we give to defiled pieces? Oh, fair-use according to Project:Media. 79.69.201.233 21:45, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- A quick Wikia Search through the fora brings me this, which is yet another reason to only use our own videos.
- That's an insane amount of videos to get replacements for or ask the uploader for permission to use... adding to the To-Do List. This may never be completed. Cat 21:58, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- EDIT: Just discovered Help:Videos. So that's how videospace works (though it doesn't explain IP127.00, but that's beside the point). Cat 06:43, April 21, 2012 (UTC)

{{Video}} template, or should I use YouTube and that template? It's quite ambiguous if you ask me.
Upload number
Edit
"Please use the Upload form to upload single files, or Multiple Upload form for less than 5 files." What is that supposed to mean? You're not supposed to use all the spaces available in the Multi Upload form? I think that sentence should be changed - it's confusing. --Shockstorm (talk) 20:21, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
- At some point it was only five file slots on that page. I'll just change it. --BlueHighwindツ 20:28, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
Battle of the Thousand Heart--err, Useless Images
Edit
So now that Jim, Xeno, and co. went to the trouble of purging about 2000 useless images (mostly screenshots of three seconds apart in the same cutscene, screenshots of rooms with a door open and then a door closed, etc.) we probably should expand upon and/or clarify "Any files uploaded should serve a purpose. If no page uses them in any way, the file will be deleted." In particular, I'm thinking of something like: "Files that are very similar to each other, or are duplicates, are examples of files that do not serve a purpose. Whichever image is of lower quality will be deleted." We should probably also put bullets somewhere about categorizing and licensing images, as well as requesting people to put their images on pages somewhere. Hopefully at some point in the future when Special:UnusedFiles is completely empty, somebody will just be able to check in there once a week, add all files in there to relevant pages.
I don't have much to add right now, but I will say something which is likely related: Template talk:Welcome#Changes-- whatever is on the Copyright Q&A and Images policy forum topics should be put into either this page or a child of this page. 79.69.221.191 13:59, January 6, 2013 (UTC)
