Are the boxes here supposed to be sub-pages of this one? It doesn't seem to be working because this page is "Featured Images" and those sub-pages are "This Week's Featured Image". Which is it? EDIT: I note that the Featured Articles actually have this same problem. In fact, there its much much worse, because we have don't weekly Featured Articles, its a monthly system. And instead of being sub-pages of Project: Featured Articles, instead they are sub-pages of this mysterious relic from times past: [[Project:This Week's Featured Article]].
It would make sense to have each box as a subpage of the actual FI page... I think we copied the process from the FA, though. I like the idea of fitting the current quintet of featured images with the gallery of current featured images, as just "Featured Images/Distant Worlds". What does teh Faeth think about this? 8bit 00:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- It was probably a good thing I pointed this out when I did, or else you'd have three years worth of Featured Images summaries[?] (is that the right word for what these things are?) to move over like the Featured Articles. You can probably just delete that "This Week's Featured Article" page, I can't envision any kind of future for it. --BlueHighwind ツ 00:39, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Akihiko Yoshida's Crystal Artwork[]
Y'know, I should be one of the admins here. I've played more FFs than most FF players, and I remember a lot of stuff about them. For example... You know how the description of the currently featured image says that Elemental Crystals didn't appear in FF2? Am I the ONLY one who ever seems to remember the room where Ultima was sealed? The Four Crystals were in that very room. Dachimotsu7734 05:42, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I believe they may only appear in the Dawn of Souls version. You may correct it if you spot an error, or bring it to the attention of an admin (who are admins for editing, not game playing). — YuanSaluto!Acta 06:17, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
It is past the 18th![]

We're two weeks overdue for a new image. just wondering if there's any reason for the delays. If not, I'd like to suggest an image. However since the weekly image is a
First, it's "response". Second... well, let's leave it at that. I'll be changing the FI later today.
We could always open this project page for votes. 8bit, Fae and Yuan have a good sense of taste when it comes to art, but do other users have them too?
Regarding the userbase as a whole? I doubt it. Besides, they do take suggestions - on the IRC usually.

Sazh Katzroy in crystal stasis: Major Spoilers?[]
I came on the site just the other day and right on the front page I saw the featured image of the week. Now I just recently purchased Final Fantasy XIII so, unless I'm the only one who hasn't beaten it yet, it's a pretty major spoiler. True, the only conceivable endings to the story would be A) the main characters turn into C'eith or B) turn to crystal, it still sort of ruined the surprise. - Anonymous
- It's just concept art and it doesn't happen in the game at all. ScatheMote 02:06, December 22, 2010 (UTC)
You know though, the fact that Sazh is shown to have gone into Crystal Stasis does in my opinion reveal a little too much. After all, most the time we were wondering if the party was going to complete their focus. However as Bluestar said, the ending is quite a big surprise.
- Yes, it turns out Sazh's affro is the key to saving Cocoon, as inside it he's concealed a remote control that activates atom bombs strapped to every fal'Cie in existence. BOOYAH! DoreikuKuroofangu - Visit the Soul Shrine! 02:27, December 22, 2010 (UTC)
@Drake Clawfang: UGH. You've ruined the game for me now. I thought it was Lightning's hair. ;_;
But yeah, it's nice to know that it's not too huge a spoiler. - Anonymous
Featured Image, Almost two weeks old?[]
Is it me or are we five days overdue for a new featured image? Wyvern777 06:17, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Can we just keep the current image up forever please? That's the best one I've seen yet AmbieSushi 05:06, April 23, 2012 (UTC)

Onlyinclude[]
Do we want to use the same onlyinclude trick that was used in the DNC here and on the FA page? It wouldn't make any difference asthetically, but it'd save the FI guys and Diablo from having to edit the main page every time they do an update Cat: meow ∙ hunt 01:04, May 15, 2012 (UTC)
- How would this be used? Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:04, May 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Simple. On both the home page and this page, we currently have this code:
<div style="border:1px solid #aaaaaa; -moz-border-radius:10px; padding:5px; margin:3px;">
<h2 style="background-color:#FBEC5D; border:1px solid #aaaaaa; -moz-border-radius: 7px; color:black; text-align:center; font-weight:bold; font-size:100%;">This Week's Featured Image</h2>
{{Project:Featured Images/J-E-N-O-V-A}}
</div>
- But on this page, we wrap the code of the most recent FI in onlyinclude tags, like this:
<onlyinclude>
<div style="border:1px solid #aaaaaa; -moz-border-radius:10px; padding:5px; margin:3px;">
<h2 style="background-color:#FBEC5D; border:1px solid #aaaaaa; -moz-border-radius: 7px; color:black; text-align:center; font-weight:bold; font-size:100%;">This Week's Featured Image</h2>
{{Project:Featured Images/J-E-N-O-V-A}}
</div>
</onlyinclude>
- Works for me, I'll direct Fae and Yuan to this. Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:05, May 15, 2012 (UTC)
Ironically, this in fact does not work. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:54, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, that's the div coding for some reason...I'll try the onlyinclude stuff once I get the FI fixed and Wikia stops fucking up. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:55, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
- Works great, thanks Cat. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:08, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
Changes[]
I saw that this used h2-- which is inconsistent with the rest of the homepage and it also caused disruption in the TOC at this page (with the equals-h2 date headers being followed by equally-leveled less-than-h2 "This Week's Featured Image" headers.)
So I changed how this works. You now only need to put "onlyinclude" around the "{{Final Fantasy Wiki:Featured Images/[blah]}}" part.
At the same time I also changed this page so each header didn't say "This Week's Featured Image" and now I instead put the dates there. It doesn't make sense to me to put information that doesn't apply any more on here. Of course, the same would apply to the info of past FIs at the bottom, but these are used in each one individually. I could remove them by only allowing them to display on the mainpage or on uses in the mainspace but I don't think it's worth it.
If you don't mind the formatting of this project page I won't mind replicating it throughout the archives too. JBed (talk) 20:54, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
Auto-updates[]
This is something I want done for the FA too, but it also applies here. If those who update the FI could make sure to sort out all the edits one day before hand we could have the wiki automatically update the FI as soon as it gets to the next week.
Users wouldn't even have to add it to this week's featured articles, with a bit of coding you can type out each archive in advance to automatically add new weeks, while the non-archived page will always keep up to date with the last x amount of weeks (if that's how you manage archiving, I don't know how you do).
The trick is using {{CURRENTWEEK}} and {{CURRENTYEAR}}. So, for example, we could call an image "Final Fantasy Wiki:Featured Images/32-2012" or "Final Fantasy Wiki:Featured Images/2012, Week 32" and have the main pages transclude the same but with the magic words in its place (this also means you don't have to think up arbitrary names for the FI when you choose one).
And if for some reason user's are delayed in updating the FI, with a bit more code we could make the previous week's FI keep displaying until the new one is up. Although I don't think that should be necessary.
Also if we wanted we could make the FI update after a specific time of day on the Sunday. I personally wouldn't prefer that but then I am not involved with updating the FI so I can't argue if you don't want to.
And if you wanted to do April Fool's you could. Just have MAGICWORDS wait out for April 1st. Although in such a scenario it would probably make sense for the main page to be edited to forcibly display an April Fool's FI then to have it update automatically on the day.
