Here's where you can nominate and vote on articles to be featured on the front page.
To nominate, simply write your nomination under the most recently dated section and sign your posts. A nomination is equal to a vote, and it's one nomination per person.
To vote, simply sign with # ~~~~ under the nominees to symbolize your support. You can only begin voting when there are at least 5 nominations up. You can vote for as many as two nominees at a time. You can always change it at anytime, until the selection date.
Once a nominee is selected, we'll clear the nominees section to start a clear slate. You can nominate the same article again one month later, eg. unselected nominations in January may be repeated only from March. We call it a transition period.
You can give your Comments in the section below, but any claims of supporting a nominee does not count until you sign under a nominee section. Take care!
Here are some things to consider when nominating:
Is the article detailed enough?
Does it have red links or links to disambigs? If so, can they be fixed?
If your article has any problems with the above criteria, please either refrain from nominating it or fix it up so it is up to scratch. Remember that the Featured Article is representing the best this wiki has to offer, not just a popularity contest.
If your nomination has no votes after being up for four days, you may remove it and still use it next month. However, this offer is only good for the next four days, afterwards your nomination stays (day limits are subject to change until I can find good lengths).
N.B- The rules of what constitutes a good article to offer for FA status is currently under review, as is the method of updating. See here for the discussions.
Eyes on Me (Song) – Readding my suggestion of a song article. 'Tis truly beautiful and not featuring it would be such a disgrace for it. ;P —Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 08:23, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Wild Rose Rebellion - Wouldn't the Wild Rose be a lovely feature on the main page? Putting this up again after a few months transition; we need more II coverage. Tia-Lewise 13:02, May 8, 2013 (UTC)
Yuna - With the FFX/X-2 release imminent (well... Square Enix "imminent" aka who knows... >_>) would be nice to have a FFX/X-2 article. Yuna seems like a great choice being a symbol for both games with an in depth and interesting article. COOLAWITS~TALK | YFC | XVI | DQFF~ 09:36, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
What? Yuna never been featured? Monterossa (talk) 11:18, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Uh, feel free to get rid of this bit if needed, since I don't really remember how we were going to do this now ^_^ Tia-Lewise 12:39, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
Correct me if I'm wrong... But we didn't remove the rule about re-nominating, right? So Eyes on Me should not be eligible currently, no? MirrorshardSceada 19:49, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
There's nothing written in the rules like "Didn't make last time? You can't use it this time, but later you can." or am I blind?—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 19:57, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
To directly quote it: You can nominate the same article again one month later, eg. unselected nominations in January may be repeated only from March. We call it a transition period. That's what I'm referring to here. MirrorshardSceada 20:00, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
You know: I never actually saw that! I pay more attention to talk bubbles than text at the top here. I guess the EoM will need to be removed and I should look for another nomination.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 20:03, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Yuna's section on Airborne Brigade is a stub... Not that it makes much difference, but there you go - Tidus357 00:15, May 20, 2013 (UTC)
I'd actually prefer to feature either FFX or FFX-2 arounf the release of the HD Remaster.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 07:46, May 20, 2013 (UTC)
Eyes on Me (Song) – lengthy page with lots of info with links to outside appearances. And well; we haven't had a music track as a featured article since June last year. Also: possibly, one of the best FF songs.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 14:51, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
One of the best IX location articles (which are some of the best location articles on the wiki). (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 16:49, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
Ultima Weapon (Weapon) - Covers a wide range of appearances and is in general a well written weapon article. Tia-Lewise 16:12, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
Ricard Highwind - It's not a bad article and I don't know how long it's been since a II article was featured. SetzerLeonhart (talk) 15:00, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
Ruby Weapon - [09:43:48] <Catuse> tempting just to add an incomplete article (like Flare (Ability)) to the FA nomination so we can have 5 articles to vote on -_- [09:44:24] <Catuse> actually, I'll just renominate a failed past nomination Cat (meow ∙ hunt) 16:49, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
As said in the comments of the previous vote, Diablo's too busy to update the FA and has generally lost interest in the wiki, so we need to set up new managment for the FA. There's a forum for discussing it here. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 12:43, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
I don't see how making the FA monthly when we can't even get five nominations in any timeframe :p JBed (talk) 23:57, April 20, 2013 (UTC)
Eh, if the GA thing falls flat, we probably need to drop the minimum number of nominations. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 00:34, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
RE: Dali. I wrote the page while playing through the Disc 1 event, and then tried to smooth out the more important info from other discs via YT videos. I wrote a summary explaining what the page was still lacking "needs musical themes still (i play with my sound off on my emulator so i didn't pay attention) [...] also there's missing stuff for late-game, such as where the innkeeper goes, and chocobos and stuff. i'm not there yet". 89.243.247.118 13:04, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
Cloud of Darkness - With the news that Final Fantasy III will be available for Ouya, I figured the world's most pointless "antagonist" should get a look in ^_^ Tia-Lewise 18:37, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
Treno has a lot of wasted white space but that's nitpicky. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 23:44, April 11, 2013 (UTC)
I would have voted for Shinra, if only for the fact it doesn't seem to have any spoiler tags. Otherwise, great article. Tia-Lewise 17:02, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
It's April 18th: please update the featured article before it will be completely forgotten.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 08:44, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
This is what comes of letting an inactive user handle an important part of the main page... Tia-Lewise 09:38, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
I messaged Diablo about it, and she said:
If anyone wants to take over the Featured Article that's fine by me, I've kind of totally given up on the wiki now (as you said, really busy these days, got art commissions and everything)
So there we are. — YuanSalutActa 12:01, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
Big Bridge – 'home' of the always loved Gilgamesh and has its own theme making it even more distinguishable. And from what I know, Gilgamesh in Type-0 is fought at the 'Big Bridge' if one is after the ultimate weapons for his characters.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 20:35, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
It needs a couple of images, but I'm sure people can track them down in time :). DoreikuKuroofangu 19:36, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, Drake, I might be nominating an article, but now I really hope Spoony Bard makes the FA xD Tia-Lewise 16:18, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
@DSS: We don't feature locations pages enough because they are rarely ever up to scratch. They need Locations sections. JBed (talk) 16:45, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
Well now you have the reason why Phon Coast isn't worth featuring. JBed (talk) 16:55, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
*looks and sees Phon Coast has a location section* - +DeadlySlashSword+ 16:58, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
He means with images and descriptions. Tia-Lewise 17:02, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
You might have been better off suggesting Clash on the Big Bridge...Big Bridge article itself is rather short and the bridge doesn't really do much except provide a background for a great battle. Tia-Lewise 20:44, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
Actually, the Big Bridge in Type-0 is the location where Gilgamesh is first encountered in the story. It's located near the border to the Empire, which is why Class Zero has an entire mission just stalling time and taking down enemies until Alexander is summoned, and Gilgamesh just so happens to show up. When you're hunting him down for ultimate weapons, there's a portal that randomly appears in four other locations in Orience. Just to clarify! :3 Mierna 14:12, March 22, 2013 (UTC)
Draw - Didn't really know what to nom as don't want to nom the same ones always, but this is a pretty good ability article.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:53, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
Wild Rose Rebellion - Aside from the fact it didn't actually have any spoiler tags till a minute ago...we don't see a lot of FF II stuff nominated, and I thought this might be a nice change. A little short, but all the info's there. Tia-Lewise 17:36, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Indeed, it is a bit short, but I think it would be nice to have an article from II for a change. And it is not a bad article. SetzerLeonhart (talk) 21:22, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
The CSB article has a broken file link in the gallery. Which admittedly can be easily fixed (I won't do it in case somebody knows the correct name of the file) but just throwing that out there. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 04:10, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
Iifa Tree - You couldn't have FFIX without it, and it's a good article, with some nice etymology thrown in and good structure. Tia-Lewise 16:21, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Regarding Angeal's article... didn't we want to remove all the flowery phrases in story headers like "True Colors"? Also the Boss section should be expanded but if it gets close to FA then I'll expand it if it hasn't been done yet. 79.69.201.52 16:21, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not big fan of those either. Also it may be somewhat of a spoiler, as these headers appear in the table of contents.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:59, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Iifa Tree lacks a "Locations" (sometimes called "Layout") section, which is the one of the most important sections for traversable location articles. 79.69.201.52 16:26, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
I can remedy that. Give me a few minutes. EDIT- Done. Tia-Lewise 17:10, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Prishe - I must sound like a broken record, but yeah, I'll say it again: I see nothing wrong with this article and as one of the best XI articles, I daresay it's a valid choice for FA MirrorshardSceada 16:17, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
Still a strong article. DoreikuKuroofangu 18:46, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hell Wyrm - I still think this is a good enemy article and we rarely have those featured. MystRay 18:33, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
Seventh Umbral Era - Nominating again to get five articles in and because I think it's somewhat good, heh. DiamondEdge (talk) 17:50, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Can't say I know enough about XIV to know if it is missing anything, but seems to cover both in-lore storyline and gameplay effects. Nice pictures.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 19:41, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I thought we were gonna put them up back in December? DoreikuKuroofangu 18:46, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Diamond Weapon - Jumping on the enemy article bandwagon with an enemy article that's more than just an enemy article -- it has storyline, galleries, trivia, and merchandising too. And it follows the MoS. Unless that's a cue to split it into a character article and an enemy article <_< (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 07:11, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Dollet - Because as far as I'm concerned, none of the opposition are as good as this article. Well-detailed and concise. Jimcloud 20:30, February 8, 2013 (UTC)
Enemy articles are supposed to have a Battle and Strategy section :) -- also Gilgamesh should use a multi Enemies template. 79.69.192.142 13:30, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
MSS, there comes a time when it's just best to wait and give it a cool down period. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 19:02, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
More importantly, Prishe is a stub article. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 01:39, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
Only the Brigade section. I know people will complain at me for this, but we shouldn't disqualify a page because of poor coverage of a game that's mostly irrelevant to the article. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 03:33, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yes we should. We're featuring the article, not part of the article nor the character in it. 79.69.206.117 18:02, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Hell Wyrm also does not follow the MoS. Come on guys, that should be the first thing you check before nominating. 79.69.192.142 19:05, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
Oh you big grouch ;) That's not too hard to fix and the Hell Wyrm article is very readable. I don't think FFXII has multi-enemy template though for Gilgy or does it.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 03:14, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
Before nominating these things should be checked. As for XII, I think XII has a multi Enemies template. In any case, if it gets close to being voted FA I'll probably rewrite the template and add it to the page anyway. 79.69.203.229 09:34, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - never played the game, but I heard it's good. Also, it'll be 10 years anniversary of this game's Japanese release on February 14th.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 14:22, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
No game articles for a while and I'm not sure has anything from FFTA been featured ever.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:21, January 17, 2013 (UTC)
An underrated game with a rather ironic moral message. FFTA deserves some attention. The article is nice, too.Yrusama (talk) 19:16, January 17, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not a big fan of the way the Onion Knight article handles the Non-FF Appearances section, so I'll go clean that up right now. The Dissidia section is also painfully short; I'll let somebody who's actually played Dissidia fix that problem before voting in favor of it.
Oh, and seeing as we just got Noel as a character article, no Paine kthxbai. Of course, no Paine no gain and all that, but I'm not lifting weights here >_> (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 07:31, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
I nominated it sarcastically as a passive-aggressive protest that such a similar terrible character article won last time. Not that people will ever stop voting for character articles all the time... - +DeadlySlashSword+ 07:34, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
What is terrible about the Noel article? The Paine article's not bad either.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:12, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Firstly, the coding for Paine's infobox is old, because when we don't have things in templates they don't get fixed when everything else does. Secondly, I don't know what is up with the Blitzball tables, but that's not how wiki formats tables.
And that's all I can see from a glance. However, character articles are usually deceptive in their quality. The structure and aptly-looking amount of content can make any character article look fine at a glance.
My main problem isn't with character articles getting nominated (although it's hardly a preference), but with VII articles getting nominated. And because I work closest with them I try to stop myself from doing it too. 79.69.209.81 14:23, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
I think this is the part where I try to avoid making a quip about the Rinoa article. In any case, I've only nominated one character article in the entire time I've been on the Wiki, myself, and that would be Vivi. As for VII articles, the reason I nominate them fairly often is precisely that -- because you work so closely with them, you're more likely to fix any problems you perceive, and less likely to point out its flaws on the page, repelling voters. Also we have really actually very good VII coverage, so there are a lot of good articles to choose from there. Jimcloud 18:27, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
There is no quip to be made about the Rinoa article. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 18:33, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
If you say so~ Jimcloud 18:36, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
"you're[...]less likely to point out its flaws on the page, repelling voters."
I make sure to repel voters from VII articles I want extensive changes made to or dislike in its current state. I remember Wonder Square being picked, and I voted both Yan and Rinoa's article to not let it win.
Although I just realised what you actually meant by your comment, in that I'm far more likely to fix issues because I know how to solve them straight away, than flag them for someone else to never fix. So now I feel like I'm being played to work on specific articles. 79.69.209.81 18:50, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
A sad day when we make the FA about egos and politics instead of highlighting good articles and improving the poor ones to make them better. DoreikuKuroofangu 18:57, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Well, Junon and Rufus lacked information about Lateral Bio Turks; Fort Condor focuses on the minigame a lot and IMO it should be split, but even without that it lacks Locations; the also-storyline minigames available in the Wonder Square should have their own articles, and Battle Square suffers a similar problem to Fort Condor except the sole purpose the Battle Square article was created was to house the Battle Game info, so it has a free-pass.
I'm more likely to investigate VII articles to keep them from becoming FA, yes. It's still about quality though. And when I draw people to other noms it's because they do have quality, and more of it. 79.69.209.81 19:11, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
The FA has always had a slight political aspect to it, I don't know what you're on about. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 19:39, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I have no idea whether or not you're going to complain about something; I don't nominate articles with stubs or incomplete sections on the page, but that's not always enough to save them, so if you're going to have problems with it, I find it's better if you are also motivated to do something about them. :) Jimcloud 19:02, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Well, in 2012 there were 6 character articles as FAs (a quarter of all FAs, actually) and only 2 FFVII articles. That's higher than average (there's a lot more than 12 games in the series), but for comparison, there were 5 XII or XII-in-Ivalice articles and 3 XIII and XIII-2 articles. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 19:20, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
And of the 24 opportunities how many contained at least one VII article? A lot less than I thought, but still a disproportionate percentage compared to other games. 79.69.209.81 19:25, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
My point is that it doesn't have an adverse affect on what FAs we choose, which is one problem with nominating too many VII articles. The other is that Jim's "playing" you ... which is between you and her, I guess. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 19:31, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
The trick is, if you don't like an article, don't vote for it. I mean, seriously, not that hard - Tidus357 04:41, January 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the Onion Knight article. The FFTA section is about Onion Equipment not the job and the Crystal Chronicles section seems unrelated, but I have played neither game.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:23, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the Battle Square article, handicaps and there patterns aren't discussed enough ;p 79.69.209.81 14:26, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
But we know more about them then is being given. All we say is they're random, and what you want to pick for the last two handicaps. We know there are sometimes patterns. 79.69.209.81 14:32, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah alright let's add what we know.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:36, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Noel Kreiss - Nice article with no red links, no real FFXIII-2 coverage on the FA front as of yet, got rid of stub and also nice connection to christmas (which people will still be slightly hyping about at the time of the new year). Not to mention LR:FFXIII trailer out on Dec 22 so like nice promo too!!! COOLAWITS~TALK | YFC | XVI | DQFF~ 19:52, December 16, 2012 (UTC)
While I don't really care about the connection to Christmas or the Lightning Returns trailer, this is still a good article. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 21:17, December 19, 2012 (UTC)
Shuyin - once again I nominate Shuyin. FFX-2 isn't a bad game, and we haven't featured a single FFX-2 article yet. I'd nominate Lenne, but I feel that her article is not yet complete. Also, Caius of FFXIII-2 seems to be based on Shuyin.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 13:45, December 15, 2012 (UTC)
Enemy articles are never featured. FFWiki has more than character articles, and people don't seem to realize it. (Cat + meow)(RC + Sbox) = FFW 21:43, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
There's one red link, but aside from that... Jimcloud 22:36, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
Prishe - Still think this article is excellent enough to deserve being featured MirrorshardSceada 16:03, December 15, 2012 (UTC)
Hell Wyrm - A great enemy with a detailed battle walkthrough and complete (pretty sure unless I missed something) tables. MystRay 02:53, December 16, 2012 (UTC)
