A Good Article is an accolade for articles. Articles with the status are exemplar pages of the wiki and good templates to use when improving or creating or new articles.

To become a Good Article the article has to be nominated. The article then goes through a screening where it is scrutinized by members of the wiki who will look for things missing from the page and things that need to be changed. Problems that remain unchanged will be flagged on the page. After the article has been nominated for a week, if all flagged problems have been solved and there are no further problems detected, then the article becomes a Good Article.

Unlike Featured Articles, Good Articles can be denominated. If a change in policy means that the content is no longer sufficient or correct, or new information has become available that has not been added to the page, then a Good Article can have its status questioned. Similar to the nomination process, articles can be suggested to have their rights removed if problems have been identified. If these problems are not resolved by the end of the week then the article will lose its Good Article status.

When is an article a Good Article?[]

A Good Article is an article that meets all the standards of the wiki, and contains all the relevant content that is reasonably accessible about the subject.

This means that:

  • The article should exist as according to the criteria of the Article Creation Policy.
  • The name of the article follows the criteria of the Naming Policy.
  • The structure of the article follows the structure given in the Manual of Style.
  • Ordering of releases follow the order detailed in the Scope page.
  • The article cites the content it needs to as according to as according to the Citations and Sources policy.
  • The article uses spoiler tags appropriately as according to the Spoiler Policy.
  • Coding and formatting of tables and elements use the correct templates, wikicode, tags, classes, and styles. The article uses links appropriately.
  • All content of the page fills up the sections as much as possible. Everything someone will want to find is either clearly linked or found on the page.
  • All images serve a purpose.

Ultima Weapon (Final Fantasy VI boss)[]

Nominated by: Drake Clawfang (talk) 00:36, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

Smartphone tab, smartphone image, format AI script (Jeppo usually does that). We don't have formation data for VI I don't think so that is forgiven. JBed (talk) 03:21, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

The Attack section is superfluous and needs to be removed, the information present there is already covered three times already (Ai Script, Info Box, and Strategy). Repeated information told in a different way is unnecessary and simply just makes the article longer for no good reason and pushes down the vital section "Strategy". That's what the majority of the players care for anyway. For the formation data, someone could provide/create a sample of what it should look like (Table/column headers/etc - I assume this is what we'll be using?) so I can get to work on those for all FFVI enemies. Fenrir9 (talk) 15:04, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

What's the status on this? What more needs doing? Drake Clawfang (talk) 21:00, October 11, 2014 (UTC)

I'm not trusting of Techno's infobox conversions in their ability to get information correct. Currently it says Ultima Weapon is vulnerable to Control and I know that's not true. So the current issue is the validity of the information in the infobox. JBed (talk) 23:05, October 11, 2014 (UTC)
No, that's not actually weird. You can't Control until the World of Ruin, making Ultima Weapon immune to control is useless. It was never listed as immune to Control before conversion.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 01:07, October 12, 2014 (UTC)
"Can't [[Control (ability)|Control]]". Suuuuuure. JBed (talk) 01:11, October 12, 2014 (UTC)
Now that is weird. What is weirder is that he IS actually listed as immune to control, I didn't miss that.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 01:23, October 12, 2014 (UTC)
Urgh, I know why. It's because I changed a param name but didn't change on all pages and that was one of them. Page is now fine and ready to be GA'd?--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 01:30, October 12, 2014 (UTC)
Not yet. PS tab misses lots of things, check up that those immunities are correct, and SNES control says none where GBA gives valid abilities-- I question this. Version difference or SNES's parameter is wrong? JBed (talk) 01:36, October 12, 2014 (UTC)
Unless it's possible to hack the SNES and PS versions to get data, I don't know how to sort that out...--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 11:52, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

GAing in one week if nobody has objections. C A T U S E 02:46, December 20, 2014 (UTC)

Battle at the Big Bridge[]

Nominated by: Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 21:51, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

The MoS doesn't mention a "Appearances outside Final Fantasy Media" section. This may call for a forum topic. Also the XIII-2 section has "Yui" link to an image. This is not appropriate. Firstly the image shouldn't exist if we don't have an article for them. Secondly, we should be linking to an external website.

Now finding an appropriate page is the hard part. I'm not Japanese. There's this. ?:/ JBed (talk) 22:56, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

MoS should probably allow for an Appearances outside[caps pls] Final Fantasy Media section for music pages, or to be more consistent with Character pages, Non-Final Fantasy Appearances. I notice Chocobo Theme mentions a Live a Live allusion right there in its Other appearances -- obviously Live a Live has nothing to do with Final Fantasy.
As for Yui. As far as I can tell they haven't done any other Final Fantasy covers, and their image was just rotting in Xeno's image archive thing. Therefore I've taken the liberty of deleting it, and I see no reason to make a page about Yui down the road. I searched for ビッグブリッジの死闘 on their website and couldn't find anything, so I'm not even sure if this is the right Yui (only going by the picture steamygoreng uploaded of them). They perform "world music" though so it's a decent possibility.
Which brings up another point. We link to a lot of *.jp sites here on FFWiki, most of which don't have English equivalents. Is it worthwhile to link to the Google translate for our English-speaking readerbase, or alternatively a user-created translation of the relevant content, in addition to the link to the original Japanese site? C A T U S E 02:00, July 28, 2014 (UTC)
Live A Live has nothing to do with FF, but something to do with SE. But it does have something to do with FF, because it samples the Chocobo theme ;p.
The Itadaki Street games are odd, because like, why don't we cover them? I mean sure, it potentially means creating articles like Jack for DQ characters, but if we don't cover them then who does? A DQ wiki cannot cover the game for the same reason, but between the two of them you expect the games to be covered! (actually, DQ wiki has slightly more reason, but only slightly!)
I did research before linking to that page, though it might have just been finding the source of the image. But, right Yui. Regarding Japanese sites, personally prefer not to link to Google Translate. I don't like linking to translations either. I guess it's different for external links than it is for references though. One is just saying "this is where we got it", the other is saying "go here for more". Idk.
Looking at the MoS, "Game appearances" needs to be renamed. An "Other appearances" section would be good.
*rambles* I said something, right? Anyway, an update to the MoS is what seems to be the problem here. JBed (talk) 06:22, July 28, 2014 (UTC)
MoS was updated appropriately ... sometime ago, idk when.
MoS offers neither an option for "Non-FF appearances" nor "Other appearances" for music, which is dumb. Which means another MoS update? Leaving Itadaki Street under Non-FF appearances because it's third-tier in our scope, and on non-music pages MoS says to put those on Non-FF appearances. C A T U S E 22:44, November 28, 2014 (UTC)
Honestly I don't think the page is missing anything in particular from our current MoS, it looks fine. Contains the right info, all the right audio simples, doesn't really lack any information. I would support GAing it.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 13:28, December 8, 2014 (UTC)

Aki Ross[]

Nominated by: Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 21:51, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

(Note: I've never seen TSW) Biggest problem I see is inadequate captions. First imagein Screenshots gallery is insufficient. Other captions are non-existent. The gallery in the Animatrix and Thriller section do not identify what the images show. Remember, for it to be fair use we need to be able to justify why we have the images on wiki. Picking four screenshots from a scene is not enough. We could pick one and say "Aki in Thriller parody", but if each of the four images best captions would be the same then it does not constitute fair use. I don't think we need more than one anyway, the section is not about the Thriller parody but instead about Aki in the Thriller parody.

The Thriller parody could also do with its own page or at the very least a dedicated section on the TSW article, but that's a separate matter. JBed (talk) 22:42, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

The "Thriller" images are mainly used to depict appearance in the material from what I see, but they're of terrible quality and we need cleaner ones as replacement as it's barely visible what is depicted in there. The Animatrix Gallery images are mostly unneeded are mostly unneeded, bar the first one which shows hoe face from the front rather than from a side, although we could place that image with the thumbed one, and delete the thumbed one.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 01:14, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

Dali[]

Nominated by: Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 21:51, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Lacks D2+ info. I do believe that there are adult Tetra Master players not covered yet. And I'm sure there are things to update in Locations sections. I think it is almost perfect though. I know, I wrote it :p JBed (talk) 22:05, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

LOVELESS[]

Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:32, January 3, 2014 (UTC)

Apologies for taking a while to get around to it. My first concern is that we have the Romaji but not the original Japanese characters. Romaji is just a romanisation of kana, and I suppose technically a fan-translation. It does serve a purpose, but on a wiki presenting information we should have the official kana for LOVELESS as well. I expect we do the same for lyrics too.

I also feel the structure of the article doesn't give enough precedence to Crisis Core. Ordinarily we would have a Story section. Except it doesn't really have a story, perhaps not beyond the official interpretation anyway. Maybe appearances would be better below the poem sections then?

Appearances section is in the wrong order. It's currently in the "Story" order*(although it isn't because we agreed not to divide by games when it comes to VII since BCVII spans the entire events of CCVII and FFVII), which isn't appropriate for what what is being detailed. I wonder if the first CCVII Trivia point should be moved up?

These are my mixed thoughts on the article. JBed (talk) 21:22, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Good points. I'm not sure how we'd get the proper Japanese version of it, then. The structure would be easier to fix.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 22:03, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VII[]

Nominated by C A T U S E 21:31, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

I'm going down flagging some things: But we've hit roadblock #1: "Subsequent appearances" isn't in the MoS. Also: name doesn't follow OCD. Also: why just characters? Why not a part of Legacy (which is also not MoS -_-), or "Other appearances", or a better-named section? That would include anything from VII appearing elsewhere? Forum article will need to be started. JBed (talk) 21:53, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)[]

Nominated by Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:46, July 21, 2013 (UTC)

This needs to be finalised before I would be okay accepting a character article. 89.243.247.54 12:01, July 24, 2013 (UTC)
Needs voice sample.
More to say about Theatrhythm. Brief discussion/summary of abilities and stats. A bit more context in the Itadaki Street Mobile section is required. And if there's anything else to say about Re:coded, that would be nice. The KHWiki seems to imply there are different parts.
And I'm pretty sure the battle information for XIII-2 is a stub, because it doesn't mention anything about how she is used in the fight. Can't remember the battle much, or how Eidolons work, but if it's identical to XIII it should be said. JBed (talk) 16:12, August 4, 2013 (UTC)
Voice sample, TFF and re:coded data added. Itadaki, cannot help there. :/ Drake Clawfang (talk) 17:26, August 4, 2013 (UTC)

SeeD[]

Nominated by Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 17:20, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

Definitely has content. I question how things are formatted, but that's mostly personal. I don't think I could possibly argue against it being GA for anything on that matter.

I'll give a week for people to present objections/suggestions if they have any and GA if none are raised. JBed (talk) 19:47, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

The section titled "Uniform and Mannerisms" doesn't actually include anything about mannerisms. The SeeD salute should probably be mentioned?Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:12, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
First time meeting Rinoa in Timber she compliments Squall on his dancing and he says all SeeD must take dance classes in case it's needed for covert operations. :D I'm not sure what to make of this and if it ought to be mentioned somewhere. He might be just sarcastic unable to take a compliment and Rinoa's "oh so it's for work" be a kind of rolleyes retort, but a bit impossible to tell without voice acting really. But there is a chance that all SeeD must take dance classes in case they need to dance during SeeD missions!Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:21, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
I've added info on the SeeD salute.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 01:40, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

GAing this in one week if nobody has objections. C A T U S E 02:46, December 20, 2014 (UTC)

I feel the FFAB section is far too weakly written. Would I be expecting a full list and gallery of the cards with the uniform? Probably. If I were to go for a minimum it would include the names of all characters who appear in SeeD uniforms and an image of each; but I don't think the maximum is too much to ask. JBed (talk) 08:33, December 20, 2014 (UTC)

Kefka's Tower[]

Nominated by Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 19:38, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

On a quick look: Areas needs to be a "Locations" section, written in sections with headers for each area. Treasure section needs to be reformatted in the table (the items themselves will be mentioned in the Locations sections which the Treasure table will make reference to). Monster Formations -> Enemy Formations. TFF Curtain Call is flagged as a stub. JBed (talk) 19:44, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
Cheers, doubtless Drake will want to fix this himself so I'll let him know. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 19:46, April 4, 2014 (UTC)
Locations - the areas of Kefka's Tower are not given individual names, how would you suggest I name them? I have a full map of the area if something could be done with that.
What-now with treasures?
TFFCC stub will be taken care of.
Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:46, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

The Locations sections need to state specifically where the items and bosses are. How I usually do this is literally giving each screen its own section (Area 1, Area 2 etc. is fine as sub-sections) to make it easier to point out specifics. Then state "at the bottom of stairs in the lower-left is [item]", for example. To pimp out a section not written by me, I think Caldisla#Locations does this well.

I would also probably have a Quests section of how to navigate the parties through Kefka's Tower in more of a walkthrough kind of way. Some of this stuff would be mentioned in the individual Locations section, however this section would serve as clearly written instructions to solve the puzzles.

Statue of the Gods doesn't seem to be mentioned at all, only briefly alluded to in the Caves section of locations. It wouldn't be hard to name drop them in the story section, caves section, to enemy formations section. JBed (talk) 02:53, April 8, 2014 (UTC)

Given the recent updates, I am satisfied with the article. Will GA in a week unless anyone else has something to say. JBed (talk) 09:13, July 26, 2014 (UTC)

Close enough. JBed (talk): GAd as of 04:52, August 3, 2014 (UTC)

Materia (Final Fantasy VII)[]

Nominated by Drake Clawfang (talk) 03:14, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

The "Types" section explains them from a VII-centred perspective. There is just a sentence stating there are variations in Crisis Core. In fact, Crisis Core's types are explained in the above section so this isn't well organised.
I would say the "Unused Materia" section is in the wrong place. I believe that each individual article, like Magic Materia, should contain the information for these Materia. Unused Materia still deserves a mention on the page, however it does not belong here. Probably best placed in Trivia. The See Also external link shouldn't be there.
There are other minor things I'd change, like displaying Crisis Core Materia colour names in different colours, and the Case of Yuffie part does not need to have a reference per Citation Policy. That's it from a quick look. JBed (talk) 07:04, July 21, 2014 (UTC)

I think BC's Use section could be expanded upon. I might look into it. JBed (talk) 09:26, July 26, 2014 (UTC)

So what's our status on this? Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:58, October 11, 2014 (UTC)

I know Materia appears in Lateral Bio Turks. Also G-Bike is going to have Materia. G-Bike will eventually get a section in Use, could have one now? I feel like the presence of Materia in LBT is relevant to the page but I'm not sure how it would fit. JBed (talk) 21:21, October 11, 2014 (UTC)

Tifa Lockhart[]

Nominated by Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 11:51, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

Work that needs doing that I know of:

  1. Info from the Lateral Bio Turks novel, which relies on mecorx, probably.
  2. A stats table similar to Cloud (JBed's job?).
  3. TFF stats at level 50, just the HP. Need to find out her HP growth in iOS TFF somehow...
  4. Information for FFRK and FFVII G-Bike. The latter has been delayed due to issues with the Japanese release, and I...doubt the former will be released here so I guess that's a Mecorx/Xeno job?

Just while these things can't be done, can this article be reviewed to see what else I need to work on before it's GA worthy? It has almost no maintenance categories, btw. Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 11:51, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

Since I pointed it out a few days ago: we decided once that VII characters story headers can't use release for their story headers, at least not pre OtWtaS. The Novellas section also mentions HwMO, but it mentions it completely out of order. The story section is meant to tell chronological events, and HwMO places in the middle of FFVII (you see why we don't use game headers?).

So what do we call the headers then? We didn't decide on fixed ones. "Early life", "Meteorfall", "With AVALANCHE", that kind of thing would work for me. I don't when LBT takes place in relation to CoT.

Also story sections never need to say "In [release]" unless it's pointing out story differences, or it points out multiple routes/choices in that game.

This is not a full review, just one more thing that needs to be attended to. Also I scrolled down a bit and the Voice section doesn't comment on her Eng VA where I imagine it should. I'm not sure what the voice sample standard is (I would hope for one per voice actor in a first-tier scope game*(no Ehrgeiz-only VAs, don't need AC and DoC for the same VA)), but I would at least have a Rachel Leigh Cook sample. If you can't do that then there are people you can ask (*indicates self*). JBed (talk) 04:51, December 1, 2014 (UTC)

Progress update: done Record Keeper and Lateral Bio Turks info. Close to getting level 50 info on TFF courtesy of Yuan. G-Bike is the only other thing I'm waiting on.
I've changed the story section headers. I can do it for other VII characters when I'm home. Dunno if "Deepground Conflict" for Dirge was the right choice. And I can get a Rachel Leigh Cook sample, probably from Advent Children or Dissidia, later.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 13:34, December 1, 2014 (UTC)

Other stuff that I would change or improve (note that I'm not an expert on MoS, so this is more English-naziing):

  • Midgar and AVALANCHE: "Cloud attempts to quit AVALANCHE saying he doesn't care about Shinra and the Planet, but Tifa pleads for him to stay reminding him of the promise they made as children, leading Cloud to reluctantly assign for the next mission." This sentence, while probably grammatically correct, makes my head spin.
  • Inconsistent use of {{-}}, for example, the last picture of Midgar and AVALANCHE is floated left after the next section, but Meteorfall's picture is cleared. I don't think we have a policy, written or unwritten, covering how to use {{-}}, but alternating between cleared and floated looks bad.
  • Voice should have information about how Rachel Cook was selected as English VA if at all possible.
  • Other media should be cited more extensively because everything there is from a third party. See Project:Verifiability.

C A T U S E 01:20, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

Rewritten that sentence, I agree it sucks. Done the best I possibly could for her English Voice Actress. I could only really find that one video, but eh, at least it acknowledges that her English voice actress exists. Also added voice sample, not too sure if I should've grabbed a better one, couldn't think of a better one though. Not seeing what you mean re: inconsistent use of clear, but then again, it might be the small screen of the tablet I'm using or something. Will do my best to chase up refs when home. Is there anything else, or am I just waiting on the level 50 stat/G-Bike info?--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 11:32, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

UPDATE: I know it's been almost a year, but will come back to this one.

Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy XII boss)[]

Just checked this article when putting it to FA, and I think this article can also qualify for GA as well.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 15:37, October 7, 2015 (UTC)

  • The infobox is overcomplicated with the nested infoboxes. You could have just gone 1A, B, C, D, 2A, B, C, D. I won't make this stand in the way of its GA, but the way it's done not using the main template can make it harder to maintain/forgotten for future updates to infoboxes.
  • This will apply to multiple pages, but the italics on the quest list surely aren't needed. I get why would we use italics, because it's directly quoted from the game, although we decided not to use italics on quotes so it makes even less sense now.
  • Something I've noticed you've been doing (and I don't know why) is putting the SeeAlsos below the intro section. SeeAlsos that go below the the intro are used for sibling pages. For parent pages the SeeAlso goes above. This article also doesn't need to SeeAlso Gilgamesh (character), because Gilgamesh (character) is a parent of Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy XII).
  • "Ultimate Illusion (Kyuukyoku Gensou in the Japanese version[...]" The kana should be given here, and that romanisation isn't in the wiki's style of romanisation.
  • "If the player defeats Enkidu before Gilgamesh loses 20% of his HP, or doesn't kill Enkidu before that point, a slightly different scene plays, in both battles." I feel like that's more than a Trivia point. Like maybe it should be mentioned in the Battle sections, and then more explanation should be given that "slightly different scene", like how do they differ?
  • This is the big one: Trial Mode. Gilgamesh is encountered here but the page doesn't mention it at all.
