16. These guys are essentially the Megaman of the Final Fantasy World. While that meaning truly comes from the Necromancer, Blue Mages have always taken the role of being some of the best mages in game for spells that are unique and useful from enemies. Take a majority of great spells from every game and you have a powerhouse of lethal and helpful spells. Also, remember FFVII? Okay, explaining how this went. Basically, each of us on the committee chose one fight in the archives that we liked to get a redo here for our 200th fight(s). Ideally, these were all supposed to be ready for me to put on the page today, with a little speechy thing about why we picked our fights, but only DSS made his but I can improvise. Lionheart is one of the best ways to deal damage in the entire game, just slap an Aura spell on Squall and press triangle until his limit can be selected, then select it and watch the fireworks (triggering with R1 as necessary). Peanut GalleryEdit

Okay, we have a fight between Celes and Zack this week. Previously in the Dragon's Neck Colosseum we've had fights between Kefka and Sephiroth (Kefka won that one, if I recall correctly). And then later the musical themes did the fighting for the bad guys they represent: "Dancing Mad" vs. "One-Winged Angel" (fans liked "One-Winged Angel" better that time). There's been (listed in no particular order) Sabin vs. Tifa, Setzer vs. Cait Sith, Setzer vs. Tifa, and Magicite vs. Materia. In other words, a lot of VI vs. VII fights. Will the next one be Terra vs. Cloud? Setzer vs. Cid Highwind? Or is someone in the committee going to try and ban future VI vs. VII fights? Just curious. SelkieMaiden267 15:09, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

Mkay, well, going back to fight 193, we have it said three times, though not in exactly those words: "Celes needs more love", "she deserves... more love", "Celes is so underlooked", as she proceeded to beat Kain, at something very near to a 2 to 1 ratio. Personally, I think Kain is also overrated, along with Kefka, Cloud, Sephiroth, Lightning, Sazh, and so many, many others. It's also very much in the eye of the fan as to who is more overrated or underrated, and everybody will have different opinions. But what does this have to do with Celes being overrated or underrated? One of the big reasons she likely won against Kain was because she was perceived as "underrated" while Kain was perceived as "overrated," slanting two types of votes in her favor. Again, it's all about perception, and as of late, Final Fantasy V and VI have not been seeing much love at all, not when compared to many other Final Fantasy games. ...Also, @Genbolt, one of the major reasons her story was "ham-fisted" and "shoved down the players' throats" might be because she was a main character and out in the open as opposed to Delita, who was pretty much behind the scenes after the first chapter of Tactics. Even for a main character it doesn't have to be all "hey player, this scene is supposed to be very sad and tragic! you get it yet? maybe we should hamfist it a bit more just in case!" Not saying FFT doesn't do this also, but the entire presentation is also more "stage play like", everybody speaking very eloquently and making grand speeches. FFVI has the baggage of being a SNES era game so they just didn't have so much in the way of facial and body expressions I guess, so it's easier to seep into melodrama to make a point.

In my opinion what is good character development represents the character more as what we are...or used to be...rather than what we want to be. If this makes any sense. In that sense I think Delita is a better made character.Keltainentoukokuu 13:10, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

My personal opinion is that it fits the theatrical style of FFT better than how it fits in the atmosphere of FFVI. I am thinking of the War of the Lions translation, but my understanding is the Japanese version was always quite "Shakespearean", the original PS translation just didn't reflect that. Peanut GalleryEdit

This is a close call. I mean, they're both good though not great characters and are both excellent in battle at higher levels. Oh, and Spoilers: their grandparents both die . Celes has a lightsaber, but I'd like to see a fifth Krile fight ... we've yet to have a Krile landslide. But Krile gets the vote since Celes is stuck in one job, Krile has many many many. @Cat: While Krile does have all kinds of jobs, Celes is not necessarily shoehorned into just one, thanks to the Relics; a pair of Dragoon Boots and she's a dragoon, a Gauntlet and Knight's Code make her a knight, the Lich Ring makes her an effective Necromancer to a degree... But this isn't getting into her equipment draw. The right set-up makes Celes nigh-untouchable, a feat that can be mimicked only by Terra (or someone with the Merit Award). All of this is merged with her skill in physical and magical combat. Thus, my vote is for Celes.

@Cat: Spoilers: Celes's grandfather don't have to die , besides like the person above me said with the Relic system she can have more jobs, not to mention that she can learn all kinds of magic at once while Krile has to either have the job or one command for ONE kind of magic, and she has to buy magic--Xabryn 21:52, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

17. As much as I think Kain is a good character, Celes was better. Not only did she defect from the Gestahlian empire, and everything she ever knew, but she also continued to live and fight even after considering the possibility of being the last person left alive in the entire world. Battle-wise runic can absorb most magic and thereby MP, while jump has a long loading time and simply deals more damage. 25. I really like Kain, but I'm going to have to go with Celes on this one. At best, Kain can jump high and do moderate damage ONCE. Celes, with the right equipment, can quintuple-cast Ultima for 6mp. It strikes me as part of the equilibrium of the LMS that makes it different from the traditional DNC, and thus worth possessing for a different experience. people vote for champions to make it, people vote against to prevent the creation of more champions, it's an added aspect of voting determination. 8. This guy had a much closer bond to one of the main characters than Cid did. Cid is only fought once, while Seymour must be fought a grand total of four times. Plus his backstory in the Anima sidequest is interesting. I also found Seymour far more manipulating and evil than Cid was. Cid only fought in order to stand against the Fal'cie, rather than for a crazy idea to wipe the world clean of people to end their "suffering". Huge apologies about the DNC going down today and the fact that a temporary page had to be made. I accidentally deleted the page while clearing out the articles for deletion. To make a long story short, the page won't undelete because the history was too big. I've contacted Wikia, and the fight's being hosted here for the time being. Sorry about that guys. Me too. Which is why I can't understand the page merge protocol.

But when it comes to the DNC, users have gained hundreds of project space edits each for typing in a hash and four tildes a number of times.

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer when project space is used minimally for things beneficial to the wiki like policy and stuff.

I can't fairly vote on this, having not played XIII yet. But for what it's worth, Seymour, as goofy as he looks (and god, he looks goofy), was a pretty excellent character. Very twisted, and even if he was obviously evil the whole time, every moment with him felt like an "Oh shit" moment.
