  1. What could be more cool than Auron? He knows pretty much everything that's going on in FFX. He's one of the few characters I can think of that wear glasses (and sunglasses at that), and he's got this big Katana, which helps. He's so cool he doesn't even have to support his left arm. Oh yeah, and he's got one of the best theme tune in the game. --Dave The Rave (DTR) 08:50, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
  2. Auron rocks! (I'll come up with something more meaningful later. right now just wanted to post my vote!) SmegHead 02:36, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
  3. What happened to Anima's Ass!!?!?! LOL.I love Auron he is a real bad ass. AURON RULES -Azul
  4. meh, ff7 is cool, but auron just owns.--Shadowroxas 18:39, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  5. good bye anima's ass, hi auron!!!! auron just rocks. so bad anima's ass wasn't nominated... Pablo618 23:40, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  6. Auron wins all. Without Auron, FFX would only be ...still the best game and Final Fantasy ever made. But he does elevate it to unseen Godly wuthering heights. His character design, his dialogue, his undeniable ownage powers in battles (Tornado ignited with sake/nog anyone?!?) and even his goddamn voice acting contribute to make one of the best fictional characters ever devised. Thank you for once, Nomura. --Auron Kaizer 17:37, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
  7. If it wasn't for Auron, I think I would have left Final Fantasy X alone quite quickly into it. Auron just made everything seem much better in X then it would have done without. Jack 17:18, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
  8. Although in my first run of FFX Auron was at 2000hp or so, i must admit he's bloody awsome User: TugaKnight TugaKnight 18:19, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. Auron rocks, one of the best FF characters ever! Mattiuscn 18:10, 12 December 2007 Mattiuscn 18:10, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you serious??? FF9 < Everything that has ever existed, much less the king of all games that is FF7! Chocotard 06:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

FF9 is like Final Fantasy for people that don't want to play Final Fantasy, but instead witness Barney the Dinosaur's acid trip in game form. No need to use foul language, either. Chocotard 17:59, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

No. I started with I in 1988, when I was 6 years old. It just so happens that VII and VII (vastly inferior to VII) were the direction that the series was going in at the time. A lot of people got riled up, claiming that the series was changing too much for their liking, so Square paid them a lip service. That's what IX amounts to - which also explains why Square abandoned the formula completely after it's release (for the main series, anyway). Chocotard 02:34, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

"It just so happens that VII and VII (vastly inferior to VII) were the direction that the series was going in at the time"

Yup, that seems correct. VII is inferior to its self. Note:I am just doing this because I'm A)Bored, B)Find it rather funny, and C)Pissed that I had to kill Rundus in MP3, and as such need to relive myself somehow. And I was to lazy to get my template >.>--LaZodiac 13:29, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

FFIX was the perfection of the classic games, brought to a second generation console. VII and VIII both took the series in a new direction - sci-fi/cyberpunk. I'm sure Chocoturd is just steamed at FFIX because he couldn't get a piece of lovely bishonen Kuja. And that's A Tasty Roll's final word. A Tasty ROLL

Nice. Don't like my opinion, just edit my comments and throw in a few gay jokes. Classy community you got here. Chocotard 07:23, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VI (11 votes)[]

  1. This thing is a work of art. It's the second best game I've ever played, after Chrono Trigger. From the character designs to the story, to the character depths to the vast world to the soundtrack to the game itself, there's nothing that can have as many good things tied up into one. This is one of the few games that actually makes me want to cry. And, of course, there's Interceptor the wonder-dog! --Crazyswordsman 21:13, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
  2. Pretty much everything Crazyswordsman said... This was my favorite Final Fantasy. --dudutsai
  3. Yep, CSM said it all. Maybe, though, I'd like to emphasize the music bit. The fact that an actual operatic Aria was part of the OST was... well, I don't know the English term for it :P. Such a beautiful piece, along many other things, made me enjoy the game far beyond anything I had played at the time. Almost six years after I came about FFVI I still love the Aria, with its strings section, its harpsichord and that great sopranno that sometimes draws a tear out of me. I love to think that I'm actually hearing Celes sing! And Dancing Mad, Terra's theme, Searching for friends, The Mystic Forest... Man, along with everything else, THIS whole Final Fantasy is the coolest thing in the series. --Faethin 20:27, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
  4. Best . . . Game . . . Ever. End of story. I already gave all my reasons last time and I don't like to repeat myself. King Jiggles 20:16, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
  5. One of the best games in all of history.PiccoloNamek 04:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
  6. Unequivocally the best game I've ever played, I definitely agree. Apart from having a stellar cast, an intriguing but not overly convoluted storyline, some of the best music I've ever heard, an opera scene that still makes me cry after nine years of playing it, and a villain who actually managed to destroy the world halfway through the game, there was Mog. An actual Moogle on your actual team. And not just any actual Moogle: a slamdancing Moogle with a spear!!! Pictomancer 19:13, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
  7. I'm writing a walkthrough on it. What more needs to be said to convey what I think? --Drake Clawfang 22:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
  8. Well... V's actually my favourite game, but among the choices here... I'm gonna have to go with VI, my second favourite game. Plus, it has Mog, and seeing as Moogles was my original vote... Silver Dragoon 22:22, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
  9. FF6 is easily one of the best JRPGs ever made. One of the least frustrating games in the series too... --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 10:20, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
  10. The only thing about this game that peeved me was that there was no job choice... Still a masterpiece, the last of the great 2D Final Fantasies. Totema1 03:22, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

You actually cry while watching Aria di Mezzo Carattere? You need a girlfriend, a puppy, a book of poetry or some other more appropriate emotional outlet. And that's A Tasty Roll's final word. A Tasty ROLL

My whole experience w/ FFVI was "Meh, it was OK." People have a tendency to say that the 3D installments (with the exception of IX) were untrue to the themes of Final Fantasy. But from what I've seen of the 2D games (I admit that my experience is thus far limited to V & VI), the 3D games are better off for it. I don't eagerly anticipate FFXIII and think: "Boy, I really hope that this game rigidly adheres to the standard set in stone by the first six Final Fantasies!" I just think: "Boy, I hope this game is fun and generally entertaining!" That's why FFVII was vastly superior to FFVI: It was a better game in terms of gameplay, plot, setting, difficulty level (the Final Boss in FFVI was disappointingly easy), and music (One-Winged Angel will always be cooler than Dancing Mad). Final Fantasy VII (8 Votes)[]

  1. Final Fantasy VII was the game that didn't just get me into Final Fantasy, but it got me into RPGs altogether (with a bit of help from Pokemon). I'm not much of a fan of the spin-offs of FFVII, I like the original more. Square Enix, do me a favour and remake this on the PS3 please!!!! --ShadowLaguna 13:21, 1 September 2007 (DMT+12)
  2. This game is beyond assume, I don't care what critisms anyone makes, all could be perfected in a PS3 remake. I love everything about it (with the notable exception of Cait Sith). This remains the only game to make me weep, of course I was six at the time, so who knows. Sephiroth is the biggest badass ever to grace a Final Fantasy game ever. And I'm actually in love with Tifa. VII wins, no competetion. (BlueHighwind
  3. Final Fantasy VII is the perfect game. Those who claim that it is overrated are simply wrong for the sake of standing out. :p Chocotard 06:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
  4. Well, you made me choose. It is simply your fault for taking away the better choices... Lynorran 11:30, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
  5. Best final fantasy ever. No questions asked. I love the original, both sequels and crisis core looks great. It has a great villain and storyline and it's the only final fantasy i've played about 15 times. I do feel now though that they should do one more sequel to explain Genesis' return and then stop dragging it out. - adam mcduck
  6. Mmmm.... dystopia. The sweet smell of the toiling masses. The lovely flavor of crushed hopes and dreams. The tactile thrill of crushing humanity underfoot. What more could you want? Final Fantasy VII departed from the archetypal fantasy elements of its predecessors to present a dark, grimy world with a cyberpunk flair. While its graphics may not have been the slickest thing ever to grace a console, they did pave the way for the stunning visuals of later Final Fantasies, raising the bar to a more cinematic standard. Final Fantasy VII took risks. It dared to challenge the player with philosophical questions that were not easily answered. The lines between good and evil were blurred and even the game's heroes made mistakes. Sephiroth was a breath of fresh air compared to the maniacal cackling nobodies presented as villains in other games. He was truly a "One-Winged Angel"; a man endowed with the ability to lead the world into the future, but tragically damaged by the twisted experiments that had created him. Plus, Aeries and Tifa are still the best looking gals the series has ever seen! And that's A Tasty Roll's final word. A Tasty ROLL
  7. User:DrakemasterDrake Do I even need to explain my reasoning? It's Final Fantasy VII. That's all I need, is there a problem with that?
  8. Masamune: This is even a contest? FFVII departed from the old-school Final Fantasies in ways that were hitherto unimaginable. The 3-D graphics, the revolutionary dark plot. I mean come on: Big business takes over a nation and, in their quest to conquer the world, use the DNA of a super-powered alien to create a race of super-soldiers. One of which goes bat-sh*t insane and tries to kill all sentient life, and the only one who can stop him is a "failure" of the project. Now THAT is how game plots should be done. People that don't like FFVII are the same people that pre-ordered Halo 3: content with buying the same game over and over into eternity.
  9. Well I guess this gets my vote. The thing I thought was the coolest thing ever was never even nominated (Final Fantasy Tactics), the sheer innovation of that game kept me entertained for months, but for second best I gotta go with this. The first one I played was the original when it came out on the NES, and I loved IV and VI, but when VII came out for the PS1 way back when I was blown away. Xeynx 16:50, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Final Fantasy IX (7 Votes)[]

  1. Okay, this list could do with some knocking down. Auron, best character ever? No. He was a good character, but there are better... far better. That quote is crap; there are so many good ones in the series, and that made it to the top five??? FFVII was the first Final Fantasy I played, and thus I considered it the best for quite some time, but I now know that is not so. FFVI is the best 2D Final Fantasy, but I don't feel there's enough there to consider it the best overall. Final Fantasy IX is the most underhyped Final Fantasy game in history; the character design was great, development and backstories were brilliant, and Trance replacing Limit Breaks was sheer genius. I love this game with a passion. (Gold 11:17, 6 September 2007 (UTC))
  2. FFIX, by a mile. I started on VII, which I thought was awesome. Then I played VIII, which I thought was crap. Then I played IX, and the world made sense at last.Diablocon 19:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
  3. Everyone knows that Final Fantasy started with 7, skipped 9, and went straight from 10 to 12... b.s. FFIX is unpretentious, tongue-in-cheek, touching, and just absolutely a lovely game. It takes the classic fairy-tale elements (the determined princess, the noble thief, the knight-errant, etc.) and the ending... no other ending could possibly work for IX, except for that one. Maybe I'm not a big fan of superdeformed art, but then again, IX was not supposed to be realistic. It was intended to be a story, and it was executed as flawlessly as any FF gets. (I still wish Faris had made the finals, though.) Eowynjedi 03:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
  4. FFIX was the first FF game I played and it's still my favorite. The vibrant colors, the multi-dimensional cast, the storyline... Everything about it is just so perfect. {{SUBST:User:Hawkfangor/SigX}} 09:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
  5. The only FF I remember that I can play with another friend. Great story, great gameplay. I don't know why it got not much attetion. But it was the coolest game I played, FFYaoi 20:35, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Truly the best FF game. --Ozymandias1 20:56, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. Why I think it's the best? It's the only Final Fantasy I have played after completing it that I wanted to go through the whole game again. I started with Final Fantasy VII, and at a time I thought it was the best, but I didn't want to play through the whole game again. I only have ever restarted Final Fantasy IX. It's just the music is really good, the cutscenes are unbelieveably detailed, the characters have depth and emotion, and I think that it is more fun and has more replay value than any of the other Final Fantasys.Edenane 00:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
  8. This game is just pure fun. It had a surprisingly great story, a lovable cast, a truly terrifying villain, breathtaking locales and, most importantly, simple and addictive gameplay. Sure, I enjoy complex and deep games, but every so often I want a fun, rewarding game that I can pick up and play with ease. IX is that game. Xmd5a 21:52, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Ok, enough of this poetry crap. Playing FFIX, I fell in love with it straight away. The graphics were awesome, and the story was not horrible and confusing like the previous two games. Materia and Junctioning were just so boring after FFIX's much kinder leveling up and ability system.
Characters too. FFVII and VIII have horrible casts, but IX brought back the kind of characters that would make IV and VI proud. I think Vivi alone has more depth and emotional impact than the whole casts of the previous two games combined. Quina may be the Jar-Jar Binks of Final Fantasy, but s/he is a fun character.
The fact I start a new file once a year, and can remember the day, month and year I bought it should speak volumes of how much I love it. I once tried starting a new file in VII, only to give up 30 minutes in because I was already getting bored to tears. Plus, that save slot could have gone towards another FFIX file! I have sold and rebought FFVII 3 times, FFVIII 2 times. I have had the same copy of FFIX all these years, and the box is still in mint condition. My disc 4 needed to be repaired once, but luckily it runs A-OK again. :)
Anyway who hasn't played FFIX hasn't experienced Final Fantasy. It takes everything that makes the series great and puts it onto four brilliant discs. Anyone who says FFVII represents Final Fantasy deserves to get their head kicked in.
14th of February 2000 in case you were wondering. Diablocon 19:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm ready to have my head smashed in. You may take my life but you will never take my FREEEEEDDDDOOOOMM!!! Final Fantasy IX kicks ass, but is just missing something key, something that made Final Fantasy VII above the rest. Oh I know - Tifa's boobs. Check out the size of them, bigger than my head. "Let them watch; I know something of cages." - Final Fantasy XII Script/Translation (7 votes)[]

  1. One of the reasons why I love Ivalice and FFXII is the genius of its storytelling. Reminiscent of Vagrant Story, and no doubt this masterpiece will work its way into Final Fantasy Tactics. My appreciation for Alexander O. Smith for this masterpiece that he created out of mundane Japanese. Blue。 21:49, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
  2. Definitely gotta go for the FFXII translation. Absolutely amazing. That's really all I can say. --Mymindislost 22:30, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
  3. If Square gets rid of the translating team that did this game, it would be like knifing themselves in the back. Certain people like Woolsey may be funny, but only *insert name of people that translated this game* could make a game this epic. The lines kinda remind me of the best line in SMRPG, "I work for...a higher authority" --LaZodiac
  4. Vote..... what am i supposed to say? i liked the this better than all the other nominees (except for maybe FFVI) Maverick King
  5. I just don't know what to say. Auron was cool, the games listed were cool. This just was truly memorable. With this quality dialogue, I even found Larsa to be not too annoying. Linhasxoc
  6. I'll vote for this especially since they turned around and made an absolutely amazing re-translation for Tactics. Amazing. I mean, I love VI, VII, IX and Auron's a cool guy, but this translation? Definately the coolest thing to have happened in a long time. Nagyss 03:37, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
  7. Yeah, FFXII definitely deserves the credit for best script ever since anything. Axem Titanium 01:24, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
