DeletionEdit

Muffeltangeln: Been there since yesterday. Marked for deletion as vandalism. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 14:23, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

YesY Done. BLUER一番 15:14, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

All these images that this user uploaded. They all have no license and most them we already have. The user him/herself should be block for refusing to listen nor stop.  NeoZEROX Dissicon ff6 Ter4.png 08:40, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

There are over 350 files. Good luck on it. I also started to categorise/template those images, but after2 or three pages of images I gave up.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 13:26, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
YesY Done. All images were deleted mostly for being duplicates and/or usable. User's also blocked for three months. BLUER一番 15:14, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

ProtectionEdit

Mod Userpage Protection YesYEdit

Is this thing open for business yet? Ah, just something I noticed. I don't know if it's just an old an out of use practice or it was just forgotten about, but according to Template:Staff Member, all Staff members get semi-protected user and talk pages, but this hasn't been put into effect since Jeppo and Scathe were promoted to mod. Is this still a policy we're keeping? - +DeadlySlashSword+ 19:59, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I hope we're not, protecting user talk pages is ridiculous. 79.69.195.175 20:07, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't want my talk page to be protected against anonies. They have much a say as the rest of us. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 20:31, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
My talk page isn't protected from anons but my user page is. I suppose the protection was to help elevate the status of the mods. Actually, scanning through the staff, Drake and Xeno don't have the userpages protect either despite being promoted before Jeppo and me. I'm unsure how in practice this was in the first place.
If you'd like though, I can protect your pages along with all the other mods who don't have protected userpages. ScatheMote 20:56, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind having my userpage protected, the monthly vandalism is amusing but protection would piss off my haters which is more amusing. :p Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:37, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I must have added the talk page bit in there by mistake, but I do still think it'd be a good idea to put up the semi-protection on the userpages. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 21:38, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
BlueHighwind's talk page is protected from unregs, but I'd guess that's because he left. --Shadow Catuse 22:25, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
Faethin's too. Annoying. 79.69.195.175 22:33, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

Scathe, you forgot Kelt's page. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 22:49, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I had never ever heard of this and my user rights were changed twice. I think it's downright stupid to protect staff talk pages and I'm against it, but I am completely indifferent to protecting userpages or anything regarding the userspace as a whole. If anything, the only talk pages on this wiki that I agree with protecting are exclusively archives, with the obvious exception of anti-vandalism actions. - Henryacores^ 03:18, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

I'll even back this up further. I have never even seen this practice in action and I've been following staff promotions since 2008. It's also a superfluous action since it doesn't take a dump to make an account and vandalize a page. - Henryacores^ 03:23, January 22, 2012 (UTC)
I am not a supporter for needless protections. If a userpage is protected how can volunteers help if there needs to be maintenance? If a user talk page is protected, how would regular users with no account contact the user for help or discussion? I don't see the rationale in telling persons to "get an account" if they want to communicate - that's a rather unfriendly sort of attitude, to put it in a polite way. BLUER一番 12:45, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Motomu Toriyama YesYEdit

I said I'd suggest the admins protect Toriyama if it was vandalised one more time (check out the edit history -- that's about 50 bad-faith edits in about a month)... so here I am. The attacker (or attackers) use both anons and accounts... lots of accounts... so while I hate to request full protection, it's getting out of hand. So, full protection, plz. --Shadow Catuse 05:48, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Done. I set it to expire in one week. If he continues to vandalize after then, I can always extend it. ScatheMote 07:14, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

FaceEdit

Some whack with a seemingly rotating IP keeps adding the obvious nonsense "A feature that most characters have." After requests from Deadlyslash, Kelt, Some Color, and myself to knock it off, somehow I don't think he's going to. I'm not sure if this quite warrants semiprotection, but it might. Mostly because he's been at it since 25 March. Cat 01:26, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

He's been at it since January, actually. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:28, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

BlocksEdit

FFXIII-2 VandalismEdit

Special:Contributions/219.89.5.38 is being a generally loathsome weasel with his offensive edits to Final Fantasy XIII-2, on-off over the course of a couple hours. Maybe I'm doing this prematurely, but I'd suggest banning him if he keeps it up. I'm not bothering with test templates now that we know anons can't see them. --Shadow Catuse: WalkthroughsStray.png 06:10, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

YesY Blocked. Perhaps this is better discussed on the talk page, but should we create a "block" section on the noticeboard? 8bit 07:52, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

While we're on the subject, I suggest we just block this guy, "User:SonicRAINBOOMYAY" for moving the XIII-2 page and removing the info. If all he does it vandalize pages there no reason why we should not block him. I also agreed with 8bit with a Blocking section.  NeoZEROX Dissicon ff6 Ter4.png 08:33, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

This user really should be banned as he/she is now moving onto different articles and vandalizing them. I already poltiely asked for them to stop but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The latest edit is on the Final Fantasy VII page.  < Kamikaze Pardee > 08:40, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Adding nonsense to ToriyamaEdit

Special:Block/166.250.96.13. Methinks he's another sockpuppet of the guy Bluestar and I dealt with earlier this month, who kept bashing Toriyama and edit warring and stuff. "Recently he became known for his large role in the destruction of the Final Fantasy XIII mythology and its characters in his game XIII-2 for a number of reasons - namely his use of 'time paradoxes' to alleviate terrible storytelling, his awful portrayal of Lightning Farron and her sister Serah Farron, and his misleading marketing campaign that used Lightning as a primary advertisement even though he let her account for less than 2% of the final product. Fans of Final Fantasy XIII felt rightfully Toriyama'd." --Shadow Catuse 05:35, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

YesY Nuked by User:VegaDark. --Shadow Catuse 05:50, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

There's still a great deal of vandalism still going on. I'm trying my best to revert all the nonsense being added and issuing warnings, but I suggest someone bans these vandals. Thanks in advance.  < Kamikaze Pardee > 06:47, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what to do about that. Anyone have any ideas?

We'll play it by ear. There seem to be a slew of new accounts right now and if any of them start causing problems, we'll start with the bans. If need be, we'll call VSTF for backup. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 00:04, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
Looking at how many users TidusTehSacrifier357 just welcomed, I wouldn't be surprised if something's afoot. Ah well, we deal with whatever's coming when it comes. Or it could be somebody just trying to force somebody to win at the DNC. --Shadow Catuse 00:09, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

User changing sections of pages into foreign languageEdit

An anon has pointed out that a user called Rikn keeps changing parts of pages (particularly Defender (Weapon)) into some other language. Need some kind of admin intervention here. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 05:23, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

For some reason I decided to check - it's Vietnamese. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 05:35, March 5, 2012 (UTC)
I have messaged the user warning him to stop. I will check back later today to see whether or not a block or a page protection is required. ScatheMote 12:32, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

Blanking talk pageEdit

Two anons, both likely the same person, have been repeatedly clearing File talk:FF4PSP Rydia FMV.PNG for over 24 hours now. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 14:16, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Since there are two anons, I thought that it was better to protect the page just to be safe. If either of the two anons continue to delete talk pages or blank the page after the protection has worn off, let me know and I'll block them. ScatheMote 14:26, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
Ja, monsieur Scathe. Mucho thankios. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 14:44, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

MiscellaneousEdit

Pagename YesYEdit

So, before this project becomes bigger, are we sticking to this name or make it more creative? Its link kind of sticks out. - Henryacores^ 00:29, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

I support a change to the proposed name Edenhall by HenryA. BLUER一番 15:25, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
I don't. What's wrong with "Admin Noticeboard"? If you call it "Edenhall" some new users will have no idea what it is. At least with Admin Noticeboard you know what its purpose is. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 15:29, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
I've noted that in the concurrent forum thread before. We should continue discussions there. BLUER一番 15:34, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Update Protected Sticky {{{Y}}}Edit

Can somebody please update Forum:Fora_Rules_and_Wiki_Directory's Directory with some new changes around here:

  • Replace #FFWiki-help with #wikia-vstf and include some mention about how the latter should be used for block requests when admins aren't around (or just remove #FFWiki-help altogether)
  • Rename monobook.css and monobook.js to wikia.css and wikia.js
  • Add a link to Final Fantasy Wiki:Admin Noticeboard (this page!) next to the link to Project:Staff.

Thanks. --Shadow Catuse 01:08, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Rename monobook.css and monobook.js to wikia.css and wikia.js
Woah, woah, woah, hold on a sec. While I have no objection to adding links to user's Oasis CSS and JS, the Monobook links shouldn't be removed. What if the person looking there wants to use Monobook? We should point out where that skin's customisation links are as well.
Now that I think of it, maybe links to common.css and common.js should be added as well. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:29, March 9, 2012 (UTC)

Yea I was wondering how do I insure I spend a large amount of time being productive and not banned, I figured I post this here if the admins don't know then no one knows

There is no way to obtain immunity from being banned. Just follow general wiki etiquette and use the Help pages or ask around if you're unsure about anything. 8bit 16:43, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

"Back to Video" YesYEdit

Wikia recently merged file and video space. It has lead to some talk pages saying "Back to Video" on Oasis. This error is likely temporary, however, this can be fixed by creating MediaWiki:Oasis-page-header-back-to-video and inserting "Back to File". JBed 20:03, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

TALK - 14:53, April 11, 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to replace them with audio file each of which will be 30 seconds long

I suggest that you actually search the articles you're willing to upload files for since I've seen cases of articles with youtube videos that are not properly identified. I further reccomend searching for files you're willing to upload in order to prevent the occasion of uploading dups. - 17:38, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

Table-related CSS changes YesYEdit

In MediaWiki:Common.css is a line of code.

table.table td, table.table th {padding:2px;border:2px outset black}

This should be changed to:

table.table > tbody > tr > td, table.table > tbody > tr > th {padding:2px;border:2px outset black;}

*

I would also like this to be added below it:

table.table tr.no-table > td, table.table tr.no-table > th, table.table td.no-table, table.table th.no-table {padding:0;border:0;}

This removes table formatting.*.

These have an immediate use on a potential List of Final Fantasy XIII Weapons redesign which plans to look different in Oasis and Monobook so it actually functions on Oasis, but we don't have to shaft Monobook at the same time.JBed 14:41, April 21, 2012 (UTC)

Done. I hope I did it correctly. ScatheMote 19:23, April 21, 2012 (UTC)

Something's wrong with the featured article icon YesYEdit

The crystal has moved to the left of the page for some reason.Keltainentoukokuu 23:37, May 13, 2012 (UTC)

Fixed. It was only showing up in the left in Oasis. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. ScatheMote 00:01, May 14, 2012 (UTC)

Countdown YesYEdit

To get a countdown that's better than SN's (no offence, it actually counts in seconds), some admin has to install the Metroid JScript, according to Catuse. There's moar details and links here. TidusTehSacrificer357 04:38, May 15, 2012 (UTC)

Done. I put what I believe to be the code in our .js. Hopefully it'll work out. ScatheMote 11:41, May 15, 2012 (UTC)
I've also added it to Wikia.js, since I'm not sure how flexible Oasis is with Common. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon.png BSA 11:47, May 15, 2012 (UTC)

More CSS YesYEdit
