Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals is a 4-episode anime that was released in Japan in 1994 and the U.S.A. in 1997-1998.
Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals takes place in the same world as Final Fantasy V. Two hundred years after Bartz and his friends saved two worlds from the threat of Exdeath, a new evil comes from the Black Moon and seeks to take the Crystals for itself. Linaly Klauser, a descendant of Bartz, and her friend and protector, Pretz, journey to the Temple Of Wind to seek the source of this new danger, forming a new generation of Light Warriors.

The Planet R has been kept in balance through four magical crystals, each one representing one of the physical elements: Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth. 150 years ago, the balance was upset, and the Crystals shattered, releasing a dread force of nothingness. The shattered crystals chose four heroes, and these four would face and eventually defeat the cause of the evil, returning the world to tranquility.
Now, the Crystals are in danger once again, and descendants of those great heroes of the past must rise to the call and ensure the safety of Planet R once again.
