WoFF Mirages Shiva Ramuh Ifrit

Shiva, Ramuh and Ifrit greet the twins.

After traversing the cavern and entering its inner depths, the twins encountered a threshold containing three large crystals. Mirages appeared from the crystals, calling themselves Shiva, Ramuh and Ifrit. The Mirages greeted the twins with a welcome, much to the latter's confusion. Having taken a look at the condition of the twins, the Mirages deduced that they were not the same masters they once knew, stating that rather than having all three of them fight, the twins could select one they wanted to fight.

After having selected the Mirage they would like to fight, the twins entered into battle and achieved victory over the Mirage. Following the battle's end, the three Mirages bade their farewell to the twins, removing the threshold from the area as well as providing them a prismarium of the same Mirage class as the Mirage they have chosen to fight.

An elated Tama told the twins that she can produce a quick shortcut to exit the cave, an Exit Gate, much to Lann's excitement. After having produced the Gate, Lann and Tama argued over whether the buzzcut was actually, with the latter asking what could be shorter than a buzzcut, Reynn deducing that was probably a "bald-cut".

Spoilers end here.

Layout[]

Cavern 1[]

Contains a Gate near the dungeon's exit back out to the Cornelia Region.

Cavern 2[]

This room introduces the player to enemy stacks, and also contains a Gimme Golem.

Cavern 3[]

This room introduces the player to Puzzle Switches, both of which in this dungeon require activation to proceed to the next area.

Cavern 4[]

Contains a Save Crystal. Going up the steps and further into the area, the player finds a giant threshold and the Tri-elemence barrier guarded by Ifrit, Shiva, and Ramuh. After the player defeats the Pleiad of their choosing, an Exit Gate created by Tama appears.

Cavern 4 also branches off to the right of the Save Crystal, and leads to the Secret Cavern, a secret area in the dungeon. Accessing it requires Mirages with the Smash and Flutter abilities.

Secret Cavern[]

Unlike other secret areas later in the game, Zapts, Fritts and Bablizzes will appear randomly in normal battles with higher leveled versions of the Mirages found in the previous sections, and makes an ideal spot for early-game level grinding.

Quests[]

The Nether Nebula serves as the setting for several Intervention Quests: "The Ice Bridge", "Ifrit Meets His Match", and "The Five Cogna Lords: Cornelia, Part I". The minigame Nebula Storm also takes place in the latter intervention quest.

Areas of this dungeon are used in bonus dungeons: Cavern 1 appears as the sixth area in EX Dungeon Z, while Cavern 2 is used as the first floor of the "Earth route" in the Maxima version exclusive Hidden Dungeon.

Musical themes[]

"Labyrinth of Darkness" is the background theme that plays in the Nether Nebula.

Etymology[]

Nether comes from Old English niþera or neoþera, meaning "down, downwards, below, beneath."

A nebula is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases. Originally, nebula was a name for any diffuse astronomical object, including galaxies beyond the Milky Way.
