PuPu is an enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. It appears in the crater on Balamb where Balamb Garden once stood after the UFO? has been destroyed, and will still appear in the endgame if the player has yet to complete the sidequest.

Completing the PuPu sidequest in the Steam and Remastered versions earns the achievement/trophy UFO.

Stats[]

Battle[]

PuPu is a blue alien creature who will not attack the party, only requesting Elixirs. The player can either give it five Elixirs, kill it, or escape. By giving it Elixirs, PuPu thanks the player, and hands out the unique PuPu Triple Triad card. The PuPu card can be turned into a Hungry Cookpot that teaches a Guardian Force the Devour command. This item can only be obtained by modifying the PuPu card, in a rare Angelo Search, or via Chocobo World.

The player can buy Elixirs from Johnny's Shop in Esthar City with the Tonberry's Familiar ability learned.

If the player attacks PuPu, it drops an Accelerator used to teach a Guardian Force the Auto-Haste ability. However, the PuPu card is one-of-a-kind, whereas Accelerators can be obtained in limitless quantity by winning and refining Cerberus and Kiros cards from the CC Group in endgame.

If the player escapes from the battle, PuPu cannot be encountered again.

A high tier PuPu can be eaten with the Devour command, and it will boost the eater's speed stat by one, but the player is better off giving it Elixirs instead.

PuPu is one of the few non-boss monsters that is unaffected by Quistis's Degenerator Limit Break and Selphie's Rapture, and Odin never appears against it. The others are Grat, Vysage, Lefty, Righty, Cactuar, Tonberry, Esthar Soldier (Terminator) and UFO?.

Triple Triad[]

TTPuPu

PuPu is a unique Level 5 Monster Card that has an A value, a value otherwise reserved for Level 9 and 10 cards. PuPu is a special card that can only be obtained one way, by giving the alien 5 Elixirs during the UFO? sidequest. The card turns into Hungry Cookpot with Quezacotl's Card Mod.
