The Red Flan is an enemy from the Dawn of Souls and Anniversary versions of the original Final Fantasy. It is a rare enemy encountered within the levels of the Whisperwind Cove resembling Mount Gulg, the Cavern of Earth, and the world map.
Like most of the Flan clan, the Red Flan's Defense stat renders physical attacks useless. It is the strongest Flan, but a group of them can be defeated easily with Blizzara or Firaga.

Etymology[]
The word Flan refers to an open pastry or sponge cake containing a sweet or savory filling. A typical flan of this sort is round, with shortcrust pastry, usually coated with sweet syrup. It is similar to a custard tart or a South African melktert.
