Shumi Tribe is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Shumi Tribe is the sixty-fifth card in the inventory and the tenth Level 6 card. It depicts NORG, a Shumi "elder" whom the party faces as a boss after the Garden Riot event.

Shumi Tribe has middling values, but its value placements may be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

Obtain[]

There is a 6.3% chance to get an Shumi Tribe card when successfully using the Card command on a T-Rexaur or Grat. Both of these enemies are fought inside Balamb Garden itself, within the Training Center, perhaps in relation to NORG who is the Garden Master.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 6 cards has a chance of using Shumi Tribe in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match. Examples of players are prisoner in D-District Prison, CC Heart of the Card Club, Grease Monkey in Fishermans Horizon, Cid Kramer, and Laguna Loire. In the end of the game, all CC members besides CC Diamond will play with Level 6 cards when aboard the Ragnarok if the player completed the CC quest before the point of no return.

Card Mod[]

Five Shumi Tribe cards refine into a Gambler Spirit with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. It can be used to teach a Guardian Force the Card command. Quezacotl learns it naturally, so the player can speed up its development if they get a Gambler's Spirit before learning it on the GF. There is no particular benefit in having more than one GF with the Card command. Gambler's Spirit can also be further refined into 10 Wizard Stones.
