Thrustaevis is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Thrustaevis is the seventeenth card in the inventory, the sixth basic Level 2 Monster Card.

Being a Level 2 card, the card values on the Thrustaevis are not strong. Its value placement may be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus. It is a wind-elemental card and may be the first card with the wind element the player comes across. The element is used for when Elemental is in play. The player is likely to encounter the Elemental the first time halfway through the game when they get to Fishermans Horizon, though it is also a rule in Dollet and the Queen of Cards can be paid money to introduce new rules to a region. Placing the Thrustaevis on a tile with the matching tornado symbol boosts its vales by +1. The boosted values are not counted towards Same/Plus triggering, but do count towards Combo mechanics.

Obtain[]

The Thrustaevis monster has a 3.5% chance to drop the card. Using the Card command on a Thrustaevis has a 93.7% chance to procure a Thrustaevis card when it succeeds.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 2 cards has a chance of using Thrustaevis in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match.

Card Mod[]

A Thrustaevis card refines into a Shear Feather with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. The feathers further refine into Aero with Quezacotl's Thunder and Wind Magic Refiner. However, the superior Tornado spell can be refined with the same effort from the Windmill from the common Abyss Worm card, making that the more worthwhile card to farm for refining purposes over the Thrustaevis.
