Red Bat is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Red Bat is the fourth card in the inventory, a basic Level 1 Monster Card.

Being a Level 1 card, the card values on the Red Bat are not strong, but it has a 6 at the top, which is the highest value for Level 1. Its value placement may also be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

Obtain[]

The Red Bat monster has a 3.5% chance to drop the card. Using the Card command on a Red Bat has a 93.7% chance to procure a Red Bat card when it succeeds.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 1 cards has a chance of using Red Bat in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match.

At the very beginning of the game, the player can talk to a man outside the 2F elevator in Balamb Garden who will gift Squall a starter deck of low level monster cards; Red Bat is part of the starter deck.

The Dollet pub owner has a "VIP room" that the player can access after besting him in a card game. Talking to him here has him gift Squall some cards, Red Bat included. The player can first play the pub owner after leaving Timber as part of the story.

Card Mod[]

The Red Bat card refines into a Vampire Fang with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. The fangs further refine into Drain spells with Leviathan's Supt Mag-RF, which is a good junction spell for ST-Atk-J; it may be a good idea to collect Red Bat cards just for getting Drain.
