The Mighty Grunt is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII, appearing in the upper levels of the Shinra Bldg.. They can also be fought during the return to Midgar near the end of the game, but at this point they are harmless. Three Mighty Grunts are fought in a set battle in the 59th floor of the Shinra Bldg. when entering the elevator to floor 60, which triggers the inescapable battles glitch for all random encounters in the same floor.

Battle[]

Mighty Grunt attacks to one character using Machine Gun and Double Shot. This last attack it will use on the character who has the highest current HP. After losing half its HP, its armor is destroyed and its stats and attacks change: both Defense and Magic Defense drop greatly, but its Attack, Speed and Evade increases. It begins using three different attacks, which are Roller Dash, Rollerspin and Skating. This last attack is considered an animation, because it skates around the area and doesn't attack.

They have two items to steal, Tranquilizer and Grenade. Due to the way steals are calculated, the optimal character level to steal a Grenade is 16 and 17 (6.83%), with a second bump at 22 and 23 (6.81%). Grenades cannot be stolen with a Sneak Glove equipped or with a thief who has reached level 71.
