Yojimbo is a boss in Final Fantasy X. He is an aeon summoned by Lady Ginnem, a summoner who was killed in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth under Lulu's guardianship. He can also be summoned by Belgemine at Remiem Temple as a means of training Yuna. His first defeat in Remiem will award the player with Shadow Gem x8, while subsequent defeats award Power Sphere x10. Yojimbo is also fought inside Sin, when the final boss possesses Yuna's Yojimbo.

Battle[]

Yojimbo's Overdrive gauge increases by 3% when targeted and 2% when attacking. He will attack by using his dog, Daigoro, until the gauge is 25% full, where he may use Kozuka as well. When the gauge is 50% full, he will be able to use Wakizashi, and the chances of using Kozuka and Wakizashi increase slightly once the gauge is 80% full. Yojimbo's Overdrive, Zanmato, inflicts 9,999 points of damage on all party members.

Inside Sin, Yojimbo will alternate between Kozuka and Wakizashi. His Overdrive gauge increases by 5~15% when targeted by Power Wave from a Yu Pagoda, and 0~10% when targeted by an attack or using an ability.

Strategy[]

The player can defeat Yojimbo by inflicting the Doom status on him. This can be done either by Kimahri using the Ronso Rage Doom, which can be learned from the Ghosts inhabiting the cavern, or by using a Candle of Life. Yojimbo will then be defeated within five turns. This strategy only works for the encounter in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.

Damage from Zanmato can be mitigated by using an aeon's Shield.

Musical themes[]

The music for the battle in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth is "Lulu's Theme".

Behind the scenes[]

Yuna's Yojimbo in the final battle has an overkill requirement of 169. This value coincides with his internal enemy number within the game data. The same happens for Yuna's Anima, with an overkill requirement of 168. This suggests that these values were placeholders used by Squaresoft's developers, not meant for the final game, but have been kept unchanged as an oversight.
