Silence Attack (サイレスアタック, Sairesu Atakku?, lit. Silece Attack), also known as Silencing Strike, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is a physical attack that attempts to inflict Silence to usually just a single target.

Silencing Strike is an enemy ability used by Lenergia, which simply inflicts Silence to one enemy.

Final Fantasy X

Silence Attack is an ability found on Wakka's Sphere Grid. It costs 5 MP to use, and deals non-elemental damage with a 50% chance of inflicting Silence to an enemy for three turns.

Etymology

サイレス (Sairesu?, lit. Silece) is the Japanese name of the, Silence spell. The name derives from the transliteration of the word "silence" into Japanese (サイレンス, sairensu?) but with the ン (n?) removed to follow the four-character Japanese naming scheme for spells.
