Guardian/Ragnarok

The Guardian is a boss from Final Fantasy III, found in the Forbidden Land Eureka guarding Ragnarok. This foe relies heavily on physical attacks, acts twice per turn, and has the ability to inflict Confuse. He can also cast Reflect, so be careful when using magic against him. Once he is defeated, the party receives the Ragnarok.

Guardian (unused)

Unused Guardian artwork.

An unused Amano artwork was intended for the Guardian as a Summon. In the game the Guardian only appears as a boss, and is a palette-swap of the Glasya Labolas.

This unused artwork appears to have been used as the base for Xande in the Yūkyū no Kaze Densetsu: Final Fantasy III Yori manga adaption.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

FFXIV Glasya Labolas

The Guardian as "Glasya Labolas" in Final Fantasy XIV.

Under the name of Glasya Labolas outside of Japan, the Guardian appears as a boss in Syrcus Tower 24-man raid.

In the Japanese version, Glasya Labolas is called the Unbreakable Guardian (不壊のガーディアン, Fue no Gaadian?), being named after the Guardian boss from Eureka in Final Fantasy III, similar to Scylla and Amon. Despite the renaming, the gear based on Glasya Labolas is still named after the Guardian boss. There are two sets: one for Lancers/Dragoons ("of Maiming") and one for Pugilist/Monk/Rogue/Ninja ("of Striking").
