The Great Malboro is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2 found in the Heart of the Farplane, Cloisters 70 to 74 of the Via Infinito, and the Fiend Arena. It uses Great Malboro's and Malboro Menace's model from Final Fantasy X.

The Great Malboro is an extremely dangerous enemy that should be dealt with by equipping as many status-resistant abilities as possible (Ribbon being the key accessory to use) to avoid its status-inducing Bad Breath and Really Bad Breath attacks. Employing captured fiends with Ailment Def. is also helpful.
Strategy[]
It is also wise to quickly eliminate the Great Malboro if it Oversouls in order to prevent losing valuable items as it can quickly wear away at Eye Drops, Holy Waters, Antidotes, and Remedies. Quick and powerful classes such as Gunner and Berserker help with dealing with these enemies, as do powerful magic classes such as Gun Mage. Having an Alchemist in the party is highly recommended, as it will not destroy items if there is an Alchemist present, and it allows infinite access to Remedies if the player needs to cure statuses. Great Malboros normally appear alone.
Creature Creator[]
The Great Malboro is recruitable into the party with a Trap pod L in Besaid Island from the beginning of Chapter 5 onwards. It comes with Ailment Def. and Total Limit Break automatically learned, as well as Staccato, Really Bad Breath, Chomp, and Gastric Juice. Its Chomp attack is useful against tough enemies like the Black Elementa as Chomp ignores defense.
Fiend Arena[]
After the player completes the Lacerta fiend tale, both the Lacerta and Great Malboro appear in the Fiend Arena as part of the God Wife team. Combined with the Lacerta's high Agility and Auto-Haste and the Great Malboro's status-inducing attacks, they can be a dangerous team.

Etymology[]
The name may be a reference to Marlboro Cigarettes, since the creatures often spew horrid fumes from their mouths.
