Hunters are at their finest when fighting monsters and other beasts of the wild.

Description

Hunter is a job class in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift available to humes and gria, which uses greatbows similar to the viera Sniper class, and specializes in fighting monsters.

Profile[]

Hunters are excellent marksmen whose weak point is their low Defense. They have one of the strongest attacks, Ultima Shot, which deals triple damage, and whose high 32 MP cost means that Hunters will have to wait four turns before using it; one strategy is to pair them with something that can restore MP, such as the bangaa Cannoneer and moogle Flintlock jobs, or access to Recharge via High Magick. Another strategy to speed up the wait for Ultima Shot is to use Clan Privileges, such as MP Channeling (units gain 20 MP each turn, double the normal amount) or MP Efficiency (MP costs halved), each of which will allow the use of Ultima Shot in two turns. If Halve MP is used as the Hunter's passive ability alongside these Clan Privileges, he or she will be able to use Ultima Shot constantly, for it would only cost 8 MP. The Sidewinder ability does not count as a long-ranged weapon attack, and therefore bypasses the law against long range weapons.

Hunters have lost their Capture skill—it was rendered useless by the removal of the Morpher job. Gria Hunters are better at attacking from range and keeping their distance. Hunter is a base job for gria and makes them evenly matched with both hume Hunters and Rangers. Gria Hunters have easy access to reach high and far places since they ignore terrain altitude and opposing units' block parameter. Though gria are better Hunters, they aren't as defensive as Rangers, and are mostly better at fighting long range.
