Thunder Dragon is not a very powerful enemy, but it can hit a party member with Thunderbolt, which will take off about a thousand damage per hit. Their HP is also higher than most enemies in the area.
It may drop a Blue Tail that can be given to the man in Adamant Isle Grotto, in exchange for the Onion Shield.
