The Abyss Worm is an enemy from Final Fantasy II. It can be particularly troublesome when appearing in groups of four or more.

Abyss Worms have high HP and Attack stats and frequently cast Cyclone XIII, inflicting Wind damage on the entire party.
Of note is the fact that this enemy marked the first appearance of what would become the "classic" unique worm enemy look for the Final Fantasy series, after the rather generic appearance of the worms in the original game.

Etymology[]
Abyss refers to a bottomless pit, to the underworld, to the deepest ocean floor, or to hell, or more loosely to any chasm or large drop.
