A quiet, yet determined summoner who guides the spirits of the dead to the Farplane. On her pilgrimage to defeat Sin, she encounters Tidus, a young man from another world whom she welcomes as her new guardian. Though at times it seems as though they are on a hopeless journey of doubt and loss, they at least have each other.

Description

Yuna is a playable character in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia who can be recruited during Chapter 3 of the main storyline.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Yuna wears a blue, pleated furisode kimono with hibiscus floral pattern, black boots, and a black spaghetti-string camisole under a white sash of material that wraps around her neck and over her chest. She wears a yellow patterned obi adorned with hibiscus flowers with a chōchō musubi knot and a decorative obidome to cinch the cords and two sleeves on her upper arms.

Her first alternate costume, Gunner Garment, is her Gunner dressphere from Final Fantasy X-2. She wears a white and pink spaghetti-string camisole with the Zanarkand Abes logo on her chest with a pink hood and yellow armbands. She wears a pair of denim hot pants with a blue half-skirt covering her left hip that reaches to her ankles held up by a brown belt with a pouch. She has a shorter, layered haircut, reminiscent of Tidus's, save for a long ponytail that reaches to her ankles wrapped in a pink sleeve. She wears knee-high black boots.

Her second alternate costume is based on the bridal outfit she wore during her forced marriage to Seymour Guado in Bevelle, a flowing white gown in a wing motif with a long train and a feathered open front. Yuna also wears a jeweled tiara and white heels with sheer white stockings, and is depicted wielding her signature Nirvana staff.

Story[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Act 1, Ch. 3: The Lost Kingdom of Thronus[]

The party meets Yuna in the Lost Kingdom of Thronus as she is being menaced by Seifer, Raijin, and Fujin. They chase him away, much to her relief.

Yuna is a summoner from Spira, though she declines to explain her title fully, and instead describes herself as someone trained to kill monsters and protect the people. Her remarks imply that she told Seifer a fuller version of a summoner's role; rather than trying to abduct her, he was trying to insist on protecting her as a knight. Mog offers her a place in the party. After being reassured that she would be welcome, Yuna gladly accepts in the hopes of finding either her friends or a way home.

As they travel through the area, they fight Seifer and his posse again. Yuna asks him to join them, believing that he's a good person in spite of his belligerence, but he refuses.

Lost Chapter: The Power of Valor[]

After the warriors of light recruit Cater to their ranks, Yuna accompanies her and Cyan as they search for a torsion in a forest. Cater sights an Ahriman but is unable to hit it as it escapes. She decides with Yuna and Cyan to regroup with the others, but the Ahriman returns with allies. Cyan suggests they retreat against the larger force, but Cater draws her pistol on the enemies to buy the others time. Yuna refuses to leave her behind; Cyan leaves bring in reinforcements.

Zell and Terra come to their aid, and the warriors defeat the group of Ahrimans and discuss whether Yuna and Cater should have fallen back. Cater argues that it was important that they held the line, although Cyan is concerned about what might have happened if they had been overrun. Cater becomes conflicted; Yuna, siding with Cyan, encourages her not to push herself too hard for others' sake. Terra reminds Cater that her intuition had been right, and that she had bought the other warriors valuable time to organize a defense.

Act 2, Ch. 4: For Someone's Sake[]

Yuna meets Paine, but does not recognize her at first, as she lacks the memories of her life as a sphere hunter. She recovers these memories after defeating her dark manikin.

Act 2, Ch. 7: Respite's Authenticity[]

After Sephiroth seizes Materia's throne, the warriors travel through a mountain pass when Yuna runs into and strikes up a conversation with Tidus and Jecht. The three are approached by Tidus, Jecht, and the Warrior of Light. A lifelike dark manikin of Zack then strikes the Jecht that Yuna had first met. To address the angry confusion, Zack explains that imposters have infiltrated the warriors and that the false ones need to be struck down. Yuna, flustered at mistaking Tidus and Jecht for their fakes, remains unable to discern who is real and who is not and refuses to attack them as Zack's dark manikin demands.

Allusions[]

  • In the "A Devoted Heart" event, Yuna says that the dragon they were forced to kill must be grateful that Lenna "sent" it on in such a respectful fashion, a reference to The Sending that summoners perform in Spira.
  • Yuna shares similarities with Bartz, the partner of her FR ability, and Rinoa, whom she also partners with:
    • Lost their mother when they were a child.
    • Regarding Bartz, their fathers came from a previous group of heroes who temporary save the world from the main threat several years before the event of their respective games. Both resolved to follow their father's footsteps, as Yuna became a summoner and Bartz fulfilled Dorgann's last wish to travel the world. Futhermore, a member of previous heroes became one of their party member. (Auron and Galuf).
    • Regarding Rinoa, both girls were saved by Locke in Dissidia NT, and their love relationships also share similarities, strenghting the pairing:
      • Both girls have been depressed by a shocking fact and later comforted by their love interest - Yuna was shocked by Yevon's reality; Rinoa was afraid of her sorceress's powers.
      • Both couples have made a promise in case they were separated - Yuna and Tidus to whistle; Rinoa and Squall to meet at the flower field.
      • Both couple have been separated, but managed to reunite again - Yuna managed to bring Tidus back by the end of Final Fantasy X-2; Rinoa managed to find Squall when he was lost in the void.
